Seth van Hooland
先生是布鲁塞尔自由大学信息与通信科学系数字信息部的主任,2009年获得博士学位,专业方向为文化遗产资源的元数据质量。最近一年,他在西班牙马德里的
Carlos三世大学图书情报学系做访问教授,从事技术进步对文化遗产文献工作的影响研究。最近的论文有《元数据类型和元数据应用》(载《元数据、语义和本体手册》,伦敦世界科学出版社,将于2011年出版),《传统数据库质量的解释学应用》(已向“文献学杂志”投稿,进入终审阶段),《在商品化和有意义之间:文化遗产资源采用用户创建元数据的两面性》(已向“图书馆趋势”杂志投稿,已接受初评)。Van

Seth van Hooland holds the chair in Digital Information at the
Information and Communication Science department of the Université
Libre de Bruxelles (ULB), Belgium, where in 2009, he obtained his PhD
on the topic of metadata quality in the cultural heritage sector.
During the current academic year, he works as a visiting professor at
the Library and Information Science department of the Carlos III
university of Madrid, Spain. His research focusses on the impact of
technological evolutions upon documentation practices in the cultural
heritage sector. Recent publications include "Metadata typology and
metadata uses" (Handbook of metadata, semantics and ontologies, London
: World Scientific Publishing, to be published in 2011), "Hermeneutics
applied to the quality of empirical databases" (submitted for
publication in "Journal of Documentation", currently under final
review) and "Between commodification and sense-making. On the
double-sided effect of user-generated metadata within the cultural
heritage sector" (submitted for publication in "Library Trends",
currently under first review). Van Hooland also works as a consultant
for clients such as the European Commission in the domain of digital
cultural heritage. He is a member of the Dublin Core Metadata
Initiative (DCMI) Advisory Board and co-chair of the DCMI Tools
Community, and is involved within the CollectiveAccess project, an
open-source collection management software for the cultural heritage
sector.
