Hi, all.
For the last several years, we've maintained a special schedule of what individual staff member was staffing our libraryh3lp vref in what time slot. We've decided to move to a model of encouraging all staff to be logged on all of the time that they could reasonably respond to a question (e.g. not during meetings or lunch or on the physical desk, but the rest of their hours). The exception will be the evening/weekend hours during which the physical desk staff will also do vref.
Does anyone else on this list do something like this "distributed responsibility" model?
And if so, what do you do to make sure that there's always someone on during the hours you want the service available?
And do you do anything special/local to collect metrics about that performance and service availability?
Thanks for any advice you can provide!
