Hi:
I am trying the popup widget, but I have ran into a placement problem - mainly I can't get it to not display anywhere but the very top of the page.

I am trying to use this widget on Libguide pages that we have our subject profiles deleted for various reasons, so I thought I would experiment with putting this in the custom CSS of the individual pages because we know from usability studies our current AskALibrarian link is seldom seen.     Alas, this is not exactly working out as I planned because the widget is even higher up on the page.

Has anyone tried add this link to individual pages on libguides with luck, or do a do it rollover option? (I probably missed this discussion at some point but right now my brain is too fried to work this out)

Hi Sarah,

Pam from LibraryH3lp support here.  I'm not extremely familiar with LibGuides and what's possible in this custom CSS area.  But generally speaking, you should be able to put a LibraryH3lp chat code snippet into a LibGuides box and control the box's placement on the individual page.  Some info is here:

https://docs.libraryh3lp.com/libguides

If it turns out that what you're working on is a special case, it could be that your question may need some help from LibGuides/Springshare support.  But let us know if we can assist.

Very best,
Pam

I have been testing this out some more, and I have noticed that when a user engages in a chat using this feature (so they click on Ask a Librarian, the chat box opens) - the proactive box opens again, asking the user if they want to chat.   I only have the code entered on the page once, so I am not sure why it is asking the patron twice..?

<div data-lh3-jid="as...@chat.libraryh3lp.com" class="libraryh3lp" style="display: none;"><div data-lh3-proactive-title="Need Help? Chat with a Librarian!" data-lh3-proactive-timer="180" data-lh3-proactive-theme="le-frog" data-lh3-proactive-placement="middle" style="display: none;"><p>If you have a question, you can chat with a librarian now.</p><img style="cursor: pointer;" onclick="window.open('https://libraryh3lp.com/chat/as...@chat.libraryh3lp.com?skin=304', 'AskUs', 'resizable=1,width=220,height=370'); libraryh3lp.closeProactive(true); return false;" alt="Chat now" src="https://s3.amazonaws.com/libraryh3lp.com/us/buttons/bullet-online-125.png"></div><a onclick="window.open('https://libraryh3lp.com/chat/as...@chat.libraryh3lp.com?skin=304', 'AskUs', 'resizable=1,width=220,height=370'); return false;" href="#"><img src="https://s3.amazonaws.com/libraryh3lp.com/us/buttons/bullet-online-125.png" alt="Chat now"></a></div>

Hi Sarah,

Alas, we don't yet have a way to suppress proactive invitations when the guest is already actively chatting.  But if they decline an invitation, that should set a session cookie that prevents future proactive invitations during that browser sessions.

We'll add your email to our internal development ticket about the idea of suppressing proactive invites to already-chatting guests.

Very best,
Pam
