Hi Stephanie,

Alas, currently, the long anonymous guest IDs can't be changed, although that is something in our list of features for future development.  One thing that can help when looking through transcripts is to sort the Activity tab by the Guest column, by clicking the column header.  That way they sort sequentially and returning patrons with the same Guest ID are together.

The guest ID's are long like that to be in compliance with XMPP (Jabber chat) standards.  In the end, chats start up very quickly because there is a minimum of negotiation with the XMPP server to start a conversation.  This makes the chat very responsive for the patron.

Very best,
Pam

Hey there!

So we're new to Libraryh3lp and wanted to know:  Is there a way to customize the widget to let the user give a name?  The number string that comes with the chat can be a bit distracting and difficult to search by if our librarians want to go back to look through the transcripts.

Looking through the admin panel I didn't see any sort of option to add a 'insert your name here' to the widget.  Is this just not possible with the code of the current chat?

Thanks for looking!
