Dear All,
Apparently SUMMON discovery service now allows us to embed Libraryh3lp
chat but it is asking for our "Library H3lp queue" -- I gave them our
queue name, drewreference, but that doesn't seem to be what it wants.
Ideas?

Hi Jennifer,

Thanks so much for trying this out!  That appears to be a valid queue name, so we're not sure why it's not working currently.  If not already done, you could see if it starts to work when the queue goes offline and then comes back online.

Otherwise, the good folks at Summon have said they're happy to look into cases where there are problems.  Their support email is cli...@serialssolutions.com.

Very best,
Pam

Hi Stefanie,

Ah, very good catch and good troubleshooting!  It sounds like Summon's integration needs to take "chatty" (free for chat) status into account for their presence call, in addition to "available" status.  We're already in touch with their developers about this point, and hopefully that'll be a pretty straight-forward thing to improve.

Very best, and thanks again!

Pam

Hi,
I was actually able to get the libraryh3lp widget to work in Summon (for the moment anyway). I enabled the widget and entered the name of the queue and it seems to be working. My problem is that when the status in libraryh3lp is Available, Summon says Chat with Librarian. If the status is free for chat, which we tend to use, Summon says Chat is offline. It still works, I can still click on the link and get the chat box and chat but the status is wrong. We like to use the free for chat to distinguish the person who is actually answering the incoming reference questions from other people who are in libraryh3lp. easier to change one person's status than have everyone else change theirs.Summon problem or libraryh3lp problem?

Dear Pam et al, apparently it did start working overnight! Yay! So, so
far so good.

Hi Pam

Maybe I am being a bit dense. I am on the singapore/asia server. So for my queue should it also be the same as usual eg summon? Or do i need to do something special to signal I am not on the main US server?

Hi Aaron,

You definitely are not being dense. At the moment, the Summon/LibraryH3lp integration assumes US server only. We've been in contact with Serials Solutions developers about getting regional support included; they've added this to their internal development tracking system and will probably be rolled out sometime early January.

Best regards,
Amy

One more quick note.  Until the Serials Solutions developers incorporate the regional servers, it might be worth looking at making a regular pop-up widget.  NCSU has such a thing:

I believe that if chat is offline, the Summon integration will provide an email contact.  So you wouldn't get that with a pop-up widget.  But, it might be a worthwhile step if you're on a regional server, until Jan.

Very best,
Pam
