Sad news about Kathy Skhal

It is with the greatest sadness that I pass on the following message from the Hardin Library on the passing someone who has been a wonderful friend and colleague to many of us. Kathy Skhal, former co-convener of the Libraries in Curriculum SIG passed away yesterday. She is greatly missed.

(I apologize for the duplicate copies of this message some of you will receive, but I don't think I can figure out more than one way to say this.)
It is with great sadness that I tell you that Kathy Skhal, our friend and co-worker here at Hardin Library, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly yesterday afternoon, June 16, 2009, at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics. At this time, cause of death is unknown, as are plans for a memorial service. Her family is on their way to Iowa now from California.
Kathy was a great librarian and a wonderful friend. She was valued not just by the library but also by her many friends and colleagues at the Carver College of Medicine, where she held a joint appointment. When we have more information, we will let you know.
