Mark your calendars! Several people have told me that they can do
happy hour on Thursday June 12th.
I say we find an outdoor or rooftop bar that's not snobby and
expensive. Here are some ideas--I've never been to any of these so
please give me your thoughts!
Hotel Metro Rooftop Bar
"Rooftop Bar—Cash Only" reads a sheet of white paper taped to a back
elevator in the Hotel Metro's art deco lobby. We'll grant you it's a
bit sketchy, but this after-work rooftop jam is surprisingly fun
(especially considering the best neighborhood watering hole is
probably the bar in Macy's), with cheap beer, an unpretentious after-
work crowd, and a DJ who doesn't look a day over 15 adeptly spinning
old-school hip-hop, funk, and freestyle.
The view: The Empire State Building practically stands next to this
13th-floor roof deck
The menu: $4 cans of Tecate and Reingold ($3, 5:30pm-7:30pm)
