Hello! It was great to see all of you who showed up for the happy
hour at Crocodile Lounge on June 12th. Free pizza with every drink
purchased was pretty amazing. I had a great time; hope you all did
too. And I'm proud (relieved!) that we came up with a new name for
the group: Librarians without Boundaries! hahaha I still laugh.

Not sure if I can rename the current group or if I have to create a
new one--if I have to get a new group I'll be sure to add all you
current members.

Also, a new member came up with another location idea: the Shake Shack
in Madison Square Park. Perhaps in September when it starts to cool
down again.

Let's try to meet again in July--perhaps somewhere air conditioned
this time, eh? :)

Thanks for arranging the get-together, Shannon. It was a good time.

I think "Librarians without boundaries" is a definite improvement,
but I'm wondering if it might have connotations we're not really
looking for. Like "without ethics" or "without principles." Maybe I'm
being a little nitpicky.

I propose for the group's consideration a similar alternative:
Boundless Librarians or Boundless NYC Librarians.

Just a thought.

They way I see it we are not bound by the traditions of our profession.  It's not so much that we shun them, but we are open to new methods of getting our jobs done and serving our constituents.  We are no longer bound by the same physical and temporal constraints as our predecessors.

Hmm...you both (Matt and John) bring up excellent points, and as the
discussion didn't blow up into a major controversy, I'm inclined to
leave the name as is. It still makes me giggle. :)

Maybe later in July we'll have a nice air conditioned happy hour, eh?
I'll be in touch or one of you can feel free to organize one.

Happy 4th to all!
