I just scanned through all the messages about dates and am trying to
see a consensus (hmmm, maybe Meeting Maker has its uses after all...)

I'm busy on a few upcoming Fridays and Michelle can't make Wednesdays.
Holly said that she can't stay out on weeknights, but I think we were
envisioning this as an early happy hour, which hopefully will help.
Jason is busy next week, but that might be too soon anyway.

So here's my proposal: Thursday, 9/27. Does that work for everyone?

Thanks, Emily! I was trying to keep it not on Thursdays for my
housemate, a fellow health sciences librarian who has class that
night, but I would like to get this rolling and I don't think she's
even joined yet! Maybe best to rotate nights of the week so we can
eventually get everyone in, but starting with Thursday 9/27 sounds
great.

What time? I have class at 6:30, but could come for a bit if its
early.

How about we start it at 5:30 at a place in the gramercy park or
flatiron area? I did a little research on Yelp and Menupages and
found: (crossing my fingers that this thing supports html--if not,
sorry)
<a href="http://www.yelp.com/biz/kMxXLrASxsbmS-ZzAaBe-A"
target="new">Molly's</a>
<a href="http://menupages.com/restaurantdetails.asp?
areaid=0&restaurantid=5553&neighborhoodid=15&cuisineid=0"
target="new">Link</a>
<a href="http://www.rodeobar.com/" target="new">Rodeo Bar</a>
I've never been to any of these places but I thought they'd be most
convenient (or least inconvenient) for most people in the group.
Please post suggestions if you have an idea of a better place!

Molly's has great burgers, but I don't know if it's the best place for
a crowd to be standing around...Michelle might know better than me.
Rodeo has been used by library drunks for crowds in the past...

And maybe the Health Dept will leave it alone long enough for us to
go. It has a second floor I have never explored. I wonder what's up
there...among the fake wagon wheels and aged texas flags.

Sounds good to me.

I'm slightly embarrassed to admit a more than passing familiarity with Rodeo (I used to live quite near here, you see) and I actually think it could work well for an early happy hour, because it probably wouldn't be that crowded or noisy yet.

The upstairs, by the way, is filled with decrepit sofas discarded by people with higher standards than the operators of Rodeo.

I went to Rodeo just once and would second that the upstairs could be nice (my couch standards are low too)!

I don't know if I can make it--it's really hard for me to plan more
than about three days in advance of anything outside of work--but I'll
sure try!
