Support for Function Code 08 in libmodbus | Diagnostic counters

Hello,

I have a requirement in my project where I need to read the diagnostic counters and I see there is no support for it in the Libmodbus.

the "MODBUS over Serial Line Specification and Implementation Guide V1.02" documentation from modbus.org says that:

"MODBUS Serial Line defines a list of diagnostic counters to allow performance and error management. These counters are accessible using the MODBUS application protocol and its Diagnostic function (function code 08)."

please let me know how we can achieve this using libmodbus and also I would like to understand about the diagnostic counters for Libmodbus over TCP as well.
