Hello (again); I wrote previously:

Ok, ahem. I was stuck until I looked in the pkgscripts/ subdir, which I thought I had looked at carefully before. PEBKAC, it happens. There's a script in there named maketarball. That's awfully obvious. I wondered how to get that script to run, though. I figured telling *make* what I wanted would be a wise move, and in a burst of fortunate inspiration (blind luck) I typed "make tarball" and it did exactly what I wanted. It's a little like Gandalf at the doors of Moria trying to figure out the magic words to make them open. "Speak 'friend' and Enter". 'Too simple for a learned loremaster in these difficult times' or something like that. If a reader doesn't get the LotR reference, just say I was looking for something complicated and subtle when the solution was obvious and simple.
