Hello,

I know that this has been discussed before, but how have people run
MarioKart (GameCube) tournaments? I've had successful programs with
Ridge Racer for X-box and Guitar Hero, but I don't know Double Dash
well enough and feel kind of lost as I plan this tourney (which will
take place in two weeks). Did you have 4 people race at a time? If so,
how did you decide who moved on to the next round and who didn't? What
boards/levels are quickest so races don't drag on forever? Has anyone
used the Battle mode in a tournament? Any ideas would be much
appreciated...

Thank you!

What I did when I had a Mario Kart tournament was to have 2 racers on each gamecube, networked together so there were 4 racers competing against each other. The best two from each race were the "winners"; at the end the final 4 raced, then the two best raced each other.

I restricted them to 100 cc karts; the first round I made them choosse one of the easiest courses, second round and up to the end, they played from the second set of courses. For the final 4 racers, they got to decide what track to race on amongst themselves - They seemed to often choose something with a highly difficult level!

I did Mario Kart on the Wii, so it might be different but...

I had 4 racers on each machine (I had access to 3). They got to run 3
races, track choice was random (we drew from a can). Character
selection was up to them.

The top 2 finishers after three races moved on.
