In the most recent round of the IMLS National Leadership Grant announcements, I received a grant to create an alternate reality game toolkit for libraries.
The grant will fund the first round of prototype development, which will involve a group of 10 academic librarians and Jenny Levine from the ALA who will work with me through a Delphi study to develop a set of needs for the libraries, and then I will work with MIT to develop a prototype over the spring and summer.
We'll then ask those libraries to test the games in Fall 2013 as part of the library orientation activities.
If it is successful, then we will be invited to apply for additional funding to develop and release the toolkit for wide availability.
