Hi,

I have the FSM-9 device and using the Freespace Motion Studio I can connect to the unit but the only tool that works is the Virtual Object.
Under the advanced tools, the device is detected by the firmware loader and but reading anything from the device yields MANAGER_TIMEOUT in all sections (MAP_BUTTON_SHORT, BEHAVIOR_PAIR,
DEVICEID, ORIENTATION, PWR_MGMT, and AR_VR_STABILIZATION).

Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks,

Hi Kyle,

The MotionStudio is meant as a simple demonstration application with some configuration tools sprinkled in.  The Virtual Object and the Motion Chart panel are the main ones that you will probably want to use unless you are familiar with the FSM-9 and looking to configure it in a specific way.

I would recommend against exploring in the Product Configuration page because you can change the behavior of the FSM-9 if you're not careful.  However, the Motion Chart and the Advanced -> Production Configuration panel should at least see the device.

In the Motion Chart panel, you should be able to click on the check boxes for various data types and they will begin to display on a plot.  For the Product Configuration panel, if you click Read From Device it should be able to read the FRS records.  Most of them will likely be empty or unrecognized, but Manager Timeout indicates that the device is not found.  Can you try a few things for me?

- What version of MotionStudio are you running?  The latest is v3.9.3 and can be found on Hillcrest's website
- Unplug and reinsert the FSM-9.  Do those two panels still not work?
- Look under the Source menu at the top of the application.  What is listed there?  It should be "USB Freespace Module (MV) (0)" and "None"
- Can you verify that the USB Freespace Module item is selected in the Source menu?
- What does it say in the bottom left of the screen where it displays "Source = xxxxx"?
- In the Product Configuration page, make sure that the drop downs on the right side at the bottom of the page (near the Read From Device buttons) are FSPxxx and Standard FRS Header

Thanks,
