Dear all,
Alex is currently working on a web-based graphical user interface for
LiberTEM in order to make the system usable for non-programmers. The
system has two components: The front-end that runs in the browser, and
an API server as a back-end. Alex could already demonstrate how the
system streams calculation results in the browser with a snappy
response. A system like that allows to use a supercomputer as a back-end
for a responsive GUI application so that in the future working on
terabyte-scale data sets feels like working on simple images today.
Furthermore, we are working to obtain a small cost-efficient pilot
cluster that is optimized for LiberTEM workloads. It is based on a 3 HE
blade server system with eight nodes. Each node receives two high-speed
NVMe SSDs, 10 GBit Ethernet and an energy-efficient 8-core CPU. We
expect a throughput of 50 GB/s on such a system with a very affordable
price point and simple installation and maintenance requirements.
With best regards,
Dieter
