Status update November 2018

Dear all,

after the release we've been busy with development work again. There are
a number of improvements in the current development version compared to
the 0.1 release:

* Improved MIB support
* K2IS format is stable now
* Support for sparse mask matrices: significant performance gains when
the masks are very sparse
* Support for big endian raw data
* GUI usability improvements
* Improved Python API, including simplified access to all analysis
methods available in the GUI
* Documentation regarding Jupyter and JupyterHub integration
* Documentation for development work on the client

The ER-C pilot cluster that is optimized for maximum LiberTEM
performance is scheduled to ship end of next week. We'll keep you
updated about the results, possibly in the next status update.

The Gatan Microscopy Suite will allow Python scripting in an upcoming
version. We are very happy to work with Gatan on supporting LiberTEM
from within that environment. That will, as a first step, allow you to
reduce very large data sets with the LiberTEM API and load the result
directly into Digital Micrograph. For possible further integration we'll
take it from there!
