Is it absolutely necessary to use a (rt2800usb) wifi dongle or can I use the built in wifi card from my pc? (my pc does support 5GHz 802.11 channels)

P.S. sorry if this is a really stupid question

You should be able to use just about any wifi card, but it is not promised to work.
Thank you,

Jaron,

It is strongly recommended that you use a rt2800usb wifi dongle if you intend to use your computer to pair and talk with the gamepad. If you intend on talking to the Wii U directly and never using the gamepad, I've found that any 5GHz N adapter works.

Either way, you might down the line want to talk to the gamepad using libdrc, so I recommend buying a rt2800usb anyway.

I tried without an wifi adapter but I got stuck. After successfully installing the mac80211 kernel patch the test didn't work. (and there was no tsf folder in my wlan0 folder)

For the tsf file to be created the adapter must use mac80211 in the first place. Mac80211 is for primarily software based adapters. Not all wifi adapters use mac80211 as some perform many functions in hardware, such as keeping track of the tsf, in hardware. Your adapter might be one of these and so will not work whether you perform the patch or not.
Thank you,
