to Lib Gaming UK
Hi everyone,

Lib Gaming UK is a relatively low traffic list often with no more than
one or two posts a month. That’s fine as the comments and discussions
we do have here are often invaluable and normally this is the only
appropriate forum to use.

A couple of times in the past individuals have emailed me asking my
permission to post links to blogs or appropriate companies.

The thing is, it’s not my list. It’s yours.

With that in mind I’d like to suggest some guidelines for posting.
Since this appears in your inbox please feel free to disagree or
agree. If you all stay quiet (and don’t unsubscribe!) I’ll assume you
agree.

Appropriate Posting:

• Links to blogs, websites, forums or Twitter feeds that talk about
gaming in libraries or schools. Deep linking to individual lib gaming
articles in more general blogs etc.are also fine by me.
• Information from or about companies who support gaming in libraries
and or schools.
• Examples of best practice (or “the look what we did!” post)
• Course or training announcements.
• Resources found elsewhere
• General interesting gaming chatter that other professionals might
find interesting and informative.
• Surveys.

Inappropiate posting:

• Repeated adverts. You know spam when you see it.
• The exception to the above is when a company or individual can help
to answer a question from another list member by reffering to your
company or service. Feel free to remind others of your existence at
that point.
• Regular off topic postings. Nobody minds a bit of Friday afternoon
madness a la Lis Link but if you start posting about cataloguing C8th
manuscripts you will be pointed elsewhere. Cataloguing C8th Chess
pieces on the other hand would be entirely on topic but fairly
unlikely.

In case it’s not clear this is supposed to be permissive and is not
intended to be exclusive. Its real purpose is to reassure you when
posting.

If in doubt ask yourself, “Would I find this interesting?” and “Is it
on topic?” If the answer to both questions is “yes” then post away.

Carl.
