Having been inspired by the libraries gaming day last week I'm
interested in getting involved in helping libraries organise gaming
days and so on, but as I don't work in a library I have little to
offer in terms of actually organising things. Where I feel I can help
though is with technical stuff, so I'd like to offer myself as a
resource for any technical advice relating to your gaming plans.
This list is the stuff I know reasonably well, but feel free to ask
about anything else and I'll see if my black belt in googology can
sort you out.
Setting up and maintaining:
- facebook promotion pages
- twitter accounts
- blogs
- websites
Registering and administering domain names
Connectivity issues (local network/wifi and internet connectivity)
Computer building and maintenance
Open source software
Subscription services - pros and cons (xbox live, playstation network
etc)
Social bookmarking (stumbleupon, reddit, digg &c)
Getting things set up for free (realistically the vast majority of
software you use has free, legal alternatives. I beta test them so you
don't have to)
RSS - making the most of RSS feeds and making *your* feeds useful to
your audience
Fixing your stuff
if any of this would be of use to you, either reply to this thread, or
create a new one if it's something that might be of use to everyone.
probably best to CC pablo at
pablorodriguez.co.uk too, to ensure a
speedy response :o)
happy gaming!
