The music is given by A. R. Rahman, while the lyrics were written by Majrooh Sultanpuri and Javed Akhtar. The song Kay Sera Sera is based on "Kadhal Niagara" from En Swasa Kaatre. Rahman reused the song "Oh Bosnia" as "Ek Tu Hi Bharosa"[citation needed]. The song was composed and performed by Rahman in his Malaysian concert in 1996 that was in aid of Bosnian victims. The piano was played by Rahman himself. "Hai Jaana" has two parts within the film version and soundtrack version. The song "Sunta Hai Mera Khuda" was shot at Arches National Park in Utah, United States. The song " Kismat Se Tum Humko Mile Ho" was shot at Mount Marcus Baker in Alaska, United States.
Tumhara intezar hai, tum pukar lo.. Everytime I listen to this song, I either end up with a few tears in my eyes or goosebumps. Hemant Kumar weaves magic into the words that remind you of the genius that is Gulzar.
Oh, I love this song so much!!
But I find the original Bengali version (Deep Jweley Jei) much more interesting than Khamoshi. For me, Suchitra sen scores over Waheeda Rehman any day though Khamoshi has Dharmendra. ?
Interestingly, Hemant Kumar was the music director for both the films.
Actor Mohnish Bahl recently took a trip down memory lane, recalling an anecdote which had been shared with him by his mother and yesteryear actress, Nutan. The anecdote in question was with regards to the filming schedule for one of Nutan's popular film songs, Dil Ka Bhanwar Kare Pukar. from the Dev Anand starrer 1963 film Tere Ghar Ke Samne.
Speaking during his appearance at an episode of a popular singing reality television show, Mohnish Bahl, inspired by a performance of the song Dil Ka Bhanwae Kare Pukar, originally voiced by Mohammed Rafi and featuring his mother Nutan opposite Dev Anand, broke into an anecdote about the same. Bahl revealed how though the song began filming against the real Qutub Minar, it had to eventually be completed in a replica set built at Mehboob Studio.
He said, "I remember that Mom shared an incident where a large crowd blocked Qutub Minar from all sides, and the shooting of Dil Ka Bhanwar Kare Pukar was halted midway. As Dev Anand Saab and Nutan Ji were superstars, a huge crowd had gathered to catch a glimpse. Unfortunately, only one phase of the exterior or interior location was shot but a replica of the monument was made at Mehboob Studio to finish the remaining part. That was the last song which was shot at Qutub Minar."
Nutan, in a career spanning four decades, appeared in over eighty films. Genres which saw her bloom on screen ranged from urban romances to socio-realist dramas. Nutan, for her indelible contribution to cinema, was also the recipient of the Padma Shri award. She passed away in February of 1991.
Film producer Boney Kapoor made his Instagram debut last year. Since then, he has been treating his fans and followers with throwback pictures and videos. Recently, the filmmaker marked 22 years of his iconic film, Pukar featuring Anil Kapoor and Madhuri Dixit Nene in the lead roles. He also dropped a few throwbacks of behind-the-scenes pictures as he penned a long note in the caption.
Taking to his Instagram Story, the producer also dropped a picture from the sets of the film. The picture features himself, his late wife and actor Sridevi and legendary playback singer Lata Mangeshkar. Check out the picture below.
Taking to the photo-sharing site, Boney Kapoor posted a picture where he, Sridevi and Lata Mangeshkar can be seen sitting as they discussed the project. As for the caption, he wrote, "Will remain eternally grateful to Lataji for honouring us by agreeing to enact her song for our film, Pukar, a rare gesture... I will cherish forever."
Released in 2000, Pukar is an action thriller film co-written and helmed by Rajkumar Santoshi. Alongside Anil and Madhuri, the film also stars Namrata Shirodkar, Danny Denzongpa, Shivaji Satam and Om Puri. Even though it was a critically acclaimed film, it performed average at the box office. The film also went on to bag two National Film Awards, including the Nargis Dutt Award for Best Feature Film on National Integration and the National Film Award for Best Actor for Anil Kapoor's performance as Major Jaidev Rajvansh.
Madhuri Dixit, who ventured into a singing career with Candle in 2020 and recently released her second song Tu Hai Mera, has a number of popular songs picturised on her. She is also among the many women actors who had to wear light outfits- often chiffon sarees, while filming for a song in the freezing cold. Madhuri recently recalled one such experience that she had while filming Pukaar song Kismat Se Tum Hum Ko Mile in Alaska. Also Read Madhuri Dixit Nene: I am not singing just for the heck of it
Madhuri was talking about how the actors need to lip-sync most of the songs, along with expressions, unless they are in an unfavourable weather situation, where even moving your lips become difficult. A similar situation occurred when she filmed the Pukaar song on a glacier in Alaska with Anil Kapoor. While Anil wore jeans, a t-shirt, and an overcoat, Madhuri only wore a light blue chiffon saree for the song.
Asked how did she sing for the camera while filming in the freezing conditions, Madhuri told Bollywood Hungama, "The first evening I couldn't do it. Because we went there by the afternoon we were on the glaciers and it started getting really cold, by evening it was 4-4:30 pm. Farah (Khan) was the choreographer and she is saying 'everybody sing' and I am like 'I am singing.' But my lips were not moving because I had frozen completely."
The actor added, "There was a doctor on location because it's very chilly, so there has to be someone on standby. She came up to me and said 'no no no, her lips are turning blue. Packup.' So first day was bad. Next day we started getting a little adjusted to the cold and we knew how to dress up for that. It was a chiffon saree so I couldn't do much. But still we tried to keep me warm, they had a person on standby with white chadar who used to come running and put it around me, and give me like a small heater after the shot was over."
