White Columns is pleased to present an online conversation between artist Denisse Griselda Reyes and curator Tamara Khasanova on shapeshifting, the boundaries between myth and reality, and the usage of the archival as a tool for storytelling, organized on the occasion of the online exhibition A Shapeshifter with a Heavenly Secret.

The Shapeshifter has access to the Shift ability, which allows them to transform into any players but not restricted in dead ones or other Impostors throughout the game. The disguise usually only lasts for a limited time and leaves evidence behind unless set in the game's options. The Shapeshifter can pull up a menu of all other living players in the game and select one to perfectly copy their appearance (name, color, cosmetics and even pets). An animation of The Impostor inside an egg of their respective original color is visible to other players during the shapeshifting. During discussion time, the Shapeshifter will appear as their original self.

Learning to actively and consciously shapeshift (and when to turn it off) is crucial to thriving as an empath. Once empaths learn to control this ability and direct their focus, shapeshifting can be quite a fun/unexpected journey into other realms (and much more effective in helping others).
