Does anyone know how to get an itemized receipt from booking.com? When I made my reservations, I got an email confirmation showing my total and the dates (and other small things like tax %), but the receipt is not itemized (if it can even be called a receipt). My booking history info is even more sparse on booking.com itself, only showing the dates and total. How can I get it to break down the price for me showing how much I spent per night to verify to my company that I didn't have charges besides the nightly cost of the room?

If the room is pre-paid, then the confirmation from booking.com should suffice since you can't have any incidentals prior to check-in. However, you would still need the final bill since there can be legitimate charges booking.com does not collect.

As a result, partners must provide guests with invoices at check-out, either on paper or by email (or both) depending on the requirements of local legislation. Also, depending on the applicable regulations, these invoices can likely be tax invoices or customer receipts.

Booking.com can provide receipts for proof of payment. However, due to legal reasons, only accommodation partners can issue invoices for their guests. After payment through the website, the client can take the invoice and get a receipt from Booking.com.

Yes, this is the first return where they now have invoices from the actual hotel. My concern was that is was booking.com that the credit card is paying and not the actual hotel. Thank you for replying.

I know this is an old discussion. But I would just like to point out that it is not easy to get a VAT invoice from a hotel. My client just had an instance where Holiday Inn refused to supply an invoice as it was booked through b=booking.com.

This is our problem too. We have holiday let. When customers ask for a VAT receipt Booking.com say they wont issue one, but we cant either as the transaction is not with us - the customer and the payment are done strictly through Booking .com. We do not received their booking, we dont invoice the customer and we dont receive any payment from them so how do we issue a VAT receipt? yrs Linda

We are struggling with Booking.com. Our holiday lets are booked through same. They take the booking and receive the payment from the customer. From that payment they deduct their commission and their payment fee 15% and pay us the balance after 10 days. They are not VAT registered in the UK. In short the money received is not from our customer and we dont invoice them.
We were informed when submitting our last set of accounts that our normal method of cash accounting and deducting Vat on the money received was wrong and we are required to self invoice for the full amount with the customers name and reverse charge this on the VAT return. so we are ending up paying VAT on the full amount billed to the customer and also the commission deducted by Booking.com which we didnt invoice and havent received.
We called HMRC who said that as Booking.com was a service platform this was correct, but it seems to me that we provide the service for Booking.com rather than the other way around.
Normal hotels and booking.com users seem to use the method we used to use. ie pay out VAT on income received.
Can anybody unscramble this for us. It just doesnt seem right to reverse charge this. If it is surely Vistaprint, shopify and even Zettle should be charged the same way?

I have booked a room with booking.com. They asked to pay in cash when I arrived. When I asked for a receipt they said that booking.com should give me one. I contacted booking and they said that the host should give me a receipt because they provided me with the service. It is a business trip and I need a receipt otherwise I am in trouble.

Did you receive an email to confirm your booking? Some hotels you pay in cash on arrival while others you pay in advance, the money is taken off your credit/debit card. Anyway, you can't expect a receipt if you haven't paid.

With booking.com the amount you have to pay is mentioned on the booking confirmation you get. Even you pay directly to the owner on arrival. The booking confirmation you get mentions the net price and the taxes.

My accounting department said that the booking.com email is not acceptable as one can easily cancel a booking or whatever. The tax authority will not accept it. I need a receipt. Booking.com said that they can't give a receipt and asked the host to give me one. Now the host says that she can't give me one because she is a private host, not a company and doesn't give receipts. So I'm now in a situation that I have to pay from my own pocket a huge bill that was for work.

The collaboration lets business travelers automatically upload travel receipts from Booking.com for Business directly into Expensify at booking, thus eliminating the need for manual data entry and reducing potential errors, the companies said in a Tuesday (Dec. 12) news release.

If you frequently book hotels through Booking.com, you may need to look back at old reservations to get reservation numbers, view trip details, or pull up receipts. Booking.com makes it simple to see all your previous bookings in one place.

This isn't technically true. These days all you need is an e-mail address to log onto Booking.com directly - I just tried it and they sent me a verification link via e-mail, I clicked it, and I was instantly signed in. However, since the hotel reservations are technically done through southwesthotels.com, your reservations will only show there and not on booking.com.

Note that the code was passed to account.booking.com in a query parameter (?code=) instead of hash fragment (#token=) like the example of Randomsite.com. We will explain more on this issue later.

We created a link that takes over any account on Booking.com that uses Facebook. The link itself points to a legitimate facebook.com or booking.com domain, which makes it difficult to detect (manually or automatically). The next step is to check the impact on other Booking sites such as Kayak.com and on other sign-in methods such as Google.

The researchers believe the threat actors stole credentials to the admin.booking.com property management portal directly from the properties, enabling them to send legitimate looking messages via the official app and email address, nor...@booking.com.

Jude McCorry, CEO of Cyber Fraud Centre Scotland, said the scam began with the threat actor calling the hotel to say they were planning to stay at the property with a child with serious allergies, and would send a document with full details for simplicity. The receptionist immediately opened the document on receipt, which released the malware and enabled the attacker to access all booking.com bookings.

Over the following two months I got a continual run around from booking.com on the phone and in emails. I was told I needed to provide various documents to get my refund, sometimes receiving requests for the same document three times.

They do not properly vet the properties they offer you. Right after the cancellation, I went back and looked at the reviews on the corporate website of the property we reserved. They have an F rating from the Better Business Bureau. They had a customer rating of 2-1/2 stars and several reviews exactly echoed our experience. Any thinking person could see this was a distressed property and had no place being offered by a reputable booking service. My first mistake was I trusted them. I have recently heard from other property owners who have used booking.com to list their properties. They complained that the service does not properly vet the renters who use their site. One pulled their property from the site after very bad experiences with guests who came through the site. Their vetting process is full of holes on both ends.

My real beef here is that booking.com was never honest with me about the situation with this property. Instead, they made it my problem and did whatever they could to string me along. Check out this facebook page for many other horror stories: Booking.com - Unhappy Customers

I had a somewhat similar situation with booking, com in 2013. I had a reservation at the Hôtel Champs Élysées Plaza (now known as Hôtel Elysia). The reservation confirmation email said I could cancel without penalty up to 24 hours before. I canceled 25 hours before check-in time and a charge was processed on my card by the hotel for one night's stay. Booking.com told me that the hotel would reimburse me. After hours of phone calls and emails, I never received a refund: the hotel said that booking.com had incorrect information about cancellation fees in the listing and booking.com's position was that the hotel took the money and not them so they could not reimburse me. I still use booking.com for research for things like room size, number of rooms at a property and to see reviews but I no longer use them to make the actual reservation.

I appreciate all the comments. I had used booking.com for 10 or so years before this incident. That's why I hung onto their word and trusted them so long. That was until this week when one of their customer service reps implied that I hadn't actually paid the money in advance! That's when I contacted my credit card company to see if they could assist me, even though the charge was 8 months previous. They rubber stamped me a dispute credit without asking for any details and without filling out any forms. My guess is this is a common occurrence with booking.com -- If you check out the facebook page I referred to in my original post you'll see that is definitely the case.

My purpose in posting this was to warn travelers about making advance payments through the site and to share my experience. Having a booking cancelled at the last minute was very stressful and cost me a lot more money than I expected for lodging. As long as you don't pay in advance you might be OK, but you might want to be sure to check reviews of the property you are renting other than on the booking.com site if possible. I have had reports from people that have told me they posted negative reviews on filthy and misrepresented properties but they were removed from the booking.com reply string. They are easy to find on line.
