There are approximately 1,850 dirt blocks per chunk in plains, forest, snowy plains, jungle, and windswept hills biomes. In villages, dirt generates naturally as part of several different structures. In woodland mansions, dirt generates in several types of rooms. Four blocks of dirt also generates as part of each ancient city and they also generate in trail ruins.
By tilling coarse dirt, the player can convert gravel into dirt. Two blocks each of gravel and dirt become four blocks of coarse dirt, which can then be placed and tilled. Since gravel is renewable through bartering with piglins, this makes a renewable source of dirt.
Another way to obtain renewable dirt makes use of moss blocks. Azalea converts the moss block below it into rooted dirt when grown into a tree. In Java Edition, Large spruce trees convert up to about 100 moss blocks into podzol when grown. Since moss can be converted from stone using bone meal, and stone can be renewably generated with water and lava, dirt can be renewably created as long as there is access to water, lava and moss blocks.
A third way to obtain renewable dirt is by buying podzol or rooted dirt from wandering traders. However, only 18 blocks of podzol or 10 blocks of rooted dirt can be purchased from each trader, so this method cannot be performed on a large scale.
Hello, I have been trying to get the new JSON way of crafting working, however, whenever I try to signify a block of dirt, it tells me it is not found? It does it for both minecraft:dirt and minecraft:block/dirt.
to kill all of the items in a distance, i use /kill @e[type=item]. But that doesn't leave any kind of item behind. For example: I throw dirt, stone and grass on the ground, what command will help me to remove JUST dirt?
Okay ,this error is happening regardless the recipe is shaped or shapeless. Blocks not working, but items working perfectly. Why I get this error messige? How can it not find the data of minecraft blocks?
It means that your recipe is missing the "data" property for that ingredient. You need to specify the data property for items that have subtypes, like dirt which has 2 subtypes - normal dirt and coarse dirt.
Players can mine dirt using any item or even their bare hands. However, shovels will always mine them faster than any other tool. Minecraft has a handful of dirt-type blocks: dirt, farmland, podzol, dirt path, mycelium, coarse dirt, and rooted dirt.
To get dirt, players need to mine grass dirt and grass blocks commonly generated in the Overworld using anything but a silk touch item. Coarse dirt and rooted dirt blocks can be tilted with a hoe to get dirt blocks as well.
Mycelium is the rarest type of dirt. It can spread to most other dirt blocks within one space above it, three spaces below, and one space sideways. The only place where mycelium generates is the mushroom biome.
Dirt paths are commonly seen in villages. They are mainly used for decoration, and no mobs can spawn on them. Players can obtain them by using a shovel on a dirt, grass, mycelium block, podzol, rooted dirt, and coarse dirt block. Players can also get it by mining naturally generated dirt paths using a silk touch tool.
A coarse dirt block can be crafted using two dirt blocks and two gravel blocks. It can also be found in modified wooded badlands, plateau wooded badlands plateaus, all giant tree taiga variants, savanna, and shattered savanna plateau biomes.
Farmland is one of the most important dirt-type blocks in the game. Players can grow crops such as wheat on these blocks. They will also have to place a water source within a distance of at least four blocks.
Rooted dirt is the newest dirt-type block that was added in the 1.17 Caves & Cliffs update. As of now, it does not generate naturally anywhere but can be obtained using commands or creative mode. Once the 1.18 update is released, players will be able to find it under azalea trees.
So I made a flat world and I use it for displaying every single block and item in the game using the order of the creative inventory (excluding items accessible via commands). A certain order is dirt blocks and different types.
In the order, a certain bit of it is Dirt, Coarse Dirt, and Grass Block. They are all beside each other, and that's what I like. However, I'm worried that the dirt will turn into a grass block even if the coarse dirt is in the way. So I set it the Random Tick Speed to 1000 (enough to make a fast process of turning it into a grass block without making it too laggy due to high tick speed).
Then I found this answer on a question having the exact opposite goal. All the blocks and items are located in the same X-level to actually be viewed in front of the player spawned Also, the given 1st rule in the image is not something I want to do. I kept the world Always Day to shine everything with a bright sky for better display, and I also want to record a video of me walking on the line of blocks and items.
I said that I tried removing the block underneath the dirt. It's better doing it in a 3x3 wide hole. It shouldn't be too deep though, and I can easily cover it up with green carpet, because it is the closest to something that looks like grass.
I know it says minecraft:dirt here, but "forge:dirt" is apparently the one that can grow trees, and it's the one in the "Add common tags to workspace" menu. This can be confusing especially as "forge:dirt" is what I see when I'm actually adding the tag.
Data Values refer to the different types of blocks, items, and other features in Minecraft and are used in many places. Block IDs are used to define blocks placed in the world. Item IDs are valid only for items (including items in chests and items dropped in the world). Most blocks also have valid item IDs, unless otherwise noted. Entity IDs are used for entities such as mobs and projectiles.
The Dirtiest Block is a pet summoning item that summons a Dirt Block. It can be obtained by mining a block that looks similar to Dirt Blocks. Only 3 can be obtained in a small world, 6 in a medium sized world and 12 in a Large World.
Dirt is a fairly uncommon item. It is first available on Large Islands and the Shipwreck Island by using a Shovel on piles of Dirt. Later in the game, more sources of Dirt become available. The piles are only found on land, in the form of a small pile which glows like other resources. Around three to eight dirt patches can be found on a single Large Island, and mainly inside caves along with Cave Mushrooms.
This is, quite simply, the stuff you walk on, minus the Grass layer. It is best dug up with a Shovel but can also be dug up fairly quickly using your bare hands. A short while after being placed, the uppermost block of dirt on a layer will grow grass on its uppermost side if it is adjacent to a grass block.
Because dirt is easy to break, it is a good building material to use on the first night. However, it is commonly regarded as an ugly block by many players and as such is generally not so good as a long term building material.

Or you can find an item that will allow you to spawn grass on dirt blocks without seeds. I don't want to spoil it, so I won't give too much detail. But it's later mid-game.
Ancient Dirt is a type of dirt. It can be dropped by Ancient Stone Golem, found in an Ancient Hut, bought from the Fallen for 1 Ancient Gold Coin or crafted. Its only use is to grow Ancient Trees, which drop Ancient Wood.
To obtain unlimited dirt (if you cannot find enough for whatever reason), you can use the following method. Firstly grind some cobblestone in a millstone to get gravel (or obtain gravel any other way). Then craft 2 dirt with this gravel to get 4 barren dirt. Combine this barren dirt with seeds and you get 4 normal dirt blocks - double the amount you started with. This method can be repeated for unlimited dirt blocks using renewable ingredients.
Dirt is an essential ingredient for growing almost all kinds of crops. It is also necessary for the creation of Elven portals, and the crafting of multiple items, including waste blocks, dirt path, Torog stew, Wattle and Daub, thatch, and even bonemeal.
Here are the crafting recipes for the following items in Minecraft: dirt armor body, dirt armor boots, dirt armor helmet, dirt armor leggings, dirt axe, dirt dimension portal igniter and more 3 items. Detailed descriptions and step-by-step instructions provided on the Minecraft-Max.net website will help you easily understand how to make these items in Minecraft.
