No matter if I export an mp3 (at 256 with highest fixed quality) or a 48000 wave file - some parts of the song just sound really painful like grating digital or harsh tinny, sounds - only on specific parts. This doesn't sound like clipping. But why would it sound awesome inside Cakewalk but be littered with annoying issues when in Windows or in Resolve or it its video output? Is this a Melodyne Rendering artifact that only affects mixdown?

MD: I usually would have a soundtrack from some movie I was into, like maybe the early Batman soundtrack or just something I found at a thrift store, and then later, when I started doing music, I would make my own songs and put them on top of things. And then later I discovered that I could just take things from television and collage them and put in my own music. That was even easier than making films.

But for this specific issue you will want to determine what frequency is causing it to sound tinny and then reduce that frequency (FYI for fixing stuff with EQ you almost always want to cut the bad instead of trying to boosting the good).

Now with the high-Q set, boost the gain for the EQ band by about 5-8dB. This will sound ugly. Now sweep the frequency around until you find the frequency that makes the tinny vocal sound the most tinny. This will be the offending frequency. While you do this you might find it useful to toggle the EQ band on & off to compare.
