The local communities welcome visitors as new friends. Always keen to chat, laugh, invite you to their homes and make you tea whilst the children show off their somersaults into the sea. The traditional Papuan warmth makes you feel at home from the moment you arrive.
The overarching impact may be obvious, but even minute factors such as counting on your friendly neighbourhood Solar Mama truly strengthens the community. Villagers collectively grow confident in their abilities and preserved freedoms.
Together, kindled by the Mamas, they shine brightly.
Running Man also suffered low rating in the beginning but the one thing it had going was the relationship that the cast members had with each other from the get go. Yoo Jae Sook and Kim Jong Kook have worked together in two other hit shows before Running Man. Yoo Jae Sook and Ji Suk Jin have been friends since they started their career. Haha and Kim Jong Kook are real close friends. Haha and Kang Gary have been friends since they were teens.
Infinity Challenge and Running Man members are very vocal on how crucial characterization is to help the show. In fact, Ha Dong Hoon openly discussed how the veteran variety stars on the show helped the newcomers to create characters. Haha famously helped Kang Gary create his Monday Boyfriend character which is now a fan favorite character.
It was unreal, I spent my whole summer surfing the standing wave almost every day. I was approached by the end of the year by Hugo Lavictoire from KSF and offered a job to teach groups of people how to surf in the river. This became my summer job for 3 years. This is also how I met Gabriel Lanoix, who became my good friend and soon, my business partner. We started doing road trips to surf the East Coast of the states when there were small swells. And this is how I really got hooked and started dreaming about traveling the world to surf the best waves.
Dinner is served at 19:00 and, after a short de-brief session on the days activities, the evening is yours to relax, have a cold beer and talk about the amazing marine life you saw or the kind villagers you made friends with, while watching the sunset off Barefoot jetty.
Barefoot Conservation is run and owned by ex-expedition volunteers so we understand that volunteering for an expedition is not just about the amazing survey dives and making a real difference in the local community, its also about the friends you make, who, more often than not, become friends for life.
A few months ago, a friend was talking about a mission trip she and her family were going on. It sounded interesting, and being the girl who loves allllll the things that involve culture and adventure, I was ready to do a flying leap right into it all. But I also clearly heard God say, No. Not yet. And so, in a very un-Mel way, I stayed quiet. ?
From May 14-25th, eleven travellers joined our Surf Journey across the islands of Bali & Nusa Lembongan. These beginners & intermediates got the chance to progress their surfing skills to the next level, while enjoying a unique travel experience in Indonesia. Our great friend & filmmaker Simon-Pierre Côté was on the spot to capture some of the beautiful moments they had the chance to live.
OMG!! I was DWL watching the new ep of Barefoot friends. Hyun Joon and Si Yoon (TAk gooo) were so cute. I really enjoyed the episode. They were all so brave though. That girl Uee (sp?) swims like a fish!!

Another factor is Eunhyuk, who hasn't been able to find himself a role in the panel yet. He just kind of fades to the background and has been receiving disappointing screen time. When I asked a friend on what she felt about Eunhyuk's role in the show, she responded with, "Wait, Eunhyuk's on the show?". His character overlaps with Kim Hyun Joong's, meaning he's pushed to the background more often than not.
While they seem to speak to and about different kinds of girls, Yuni and AADC share many of the elements that are central to how girlhood is socially constructed. Both Cinta and Yuni are surrounded by their closest friends. Romantic interests and the idea of love are central to their daily interactions. In both films the high school is the key site for many plot lines. The main female protagonists are depicted as strong and ambitious: Cinta with her mading (wall magazine) editorial work and Yuni with her extracurricular activities and studies towards entering university on scholarship. The work of Indonesian modern poets enter the narratives (Chairil Anwar in AADC; Sapardi Djoko Damono in Yuni), dramatising their youthful insights on life. Although there are many differences in the form, timing and positionality of these films, through them we can plot a trajectory in the shifts within the public imaginations not only about girls, but also about youthfulness and normativity and, more specifically, the idea of hope in post-1998 Indonesia.
Many phinisi yachts have been adapted for the comfort and and adventure of divers, snorkellers, groups of friends and small families who intend on making a memorable journey into the lesser known parts of Southeast Asia. With sundecks, open kitchens, beautiful saloons and open design floor plans, both adventure and luxury are fast becoming one of the most interesting ways to explore Indonesia in a unique way.
These inserts gave me back my freedom.
I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for making this product, and for your incredible customer service. A few years ago I made a mistake with increasing my running distance too quickly and doing so on uneven pavement, which led to a collapsed arch (quite an achievement for somebody with hereditary flat feet), posterior tibial tendonitis, and chronic ankle sprain. It took me from running nearly every day to being unable to walk down the hall without a limp. I wasted a few months hoping I would heal by avoiding running. I saw orthopedic doctors, had MRIs, wore an air cast, and went to physical therapy. Nothing helped. Finally, I found a new physical therapist who recommended Barefoot Science to me. I was so discouraged at that point that I honestly didn't think it would work, but I figured that at that point it couldn't hurt and I went ahead and ordered a set. The changes started out small. First, I could go through a workday with the inserts without limping. Then, I could walk around my house in bare feet (no pun intended) in the evenings without pain. I started going on short runs in the evening. And just this weekend, three and a half months after starting the Barefoot Science program, I was able to hike and run without feeling any pain during or after the activity. I honestly never thought that I'd be able to run again, and to top it all off the customer service is some of the best I've ever experienced. I was unsure whether or not I was supposed to keep wearing the inserts now that my pain is gone, and my husband called the Barefoot Science help line on a Sunday evening expecting to get an answering service. Instead, he got a real live person who answered my question, explained his answer, and even took the time to recommend a different type of shoe that I should try now that I can run again! I'm not the type to really give testimonials or write to a company, but I really do feel like these inserts gave me back my freedom. I tell my friends and family about them any chance I get, and I hope that Barefoot Science continues to thrive because it has made a huge difference for me and I want other people to be able to discover what I have found.
