Youmay arrange your own transfer upon arrival at Phuket International Airport, or arrange a private transfer (subject to charges) with the hotel to get to The Racha Chalong Lounge which is located within close proximity to Chalong Pier. The hotel will contact you after your hotel booking is confirmed. The estimated travelling time is one hour from Phuket International Airport to The Racha Chalong Lounge and 30-40 minutes to The Racha by speedboat. Please note that the travelling times may vary and is subject to traffic and weather conditions.

The above schedule may change subject to flight arrival times of guests or weather and sea conditions, but the boat will not leave earlier than advertised as above in any case. For safety reasons, we do not operate the boat at night.

We recommend guests arrive at The Racha Chalong Lounge (which operates from 8am-5pm) at least 30 minutes prior to their scheduled boat departure time. The Chalong Lounge offers guests a retreat to freshen up and check-in prior to boat transfers to the resort, and guests will enjoy complimentary amenities such as welcome drinks, light snacks and complimentary Wi-Fi.

Welcome, but the Racha is more of a grown-up playground. Baby cots are free and extra beds for older kids cost THB600 a night. Babysitting is available with staff for THB300 an hour with a day's notice.

There are plenty of fun activities that children, particularly the older ones, can get involved in: batik and glass-painting workshops, kayaking and snorkelling in Batok Bay, or playing tennis or basketball on the flood-lit courts. Kids can also enjoy free mountain bikes, a pool table, beach volleyball and island hikes.

Nurse a mojito as you watch the sun set over the sea at the smart Lobby Bar. Ice Bar is a late-night perch for drinks, live music and karaoke. The Club del Mar Beach Club is the go-to spot for nocturnal quaffing, with a DJ spinning tunes (it also boasts a pool, spa and dishes up a mean buffet lunch).

Fly into Phuket International Airport at the north end of the island; once you've landed, it's a one-hour drive from the airport down to Chalong Bay where you'll catch a speedboat for the 40-minute trip to Racha Island. Aim to arrive at the hotel's Chalong lounge at least 30 minutes before you depart; here you can check in to the hotel, enjoy a few free drinks and snacks, charge your phone and freshen up with a shower. Boats will not run at night, but the Racha's staff can recommend accommodation in Phuket should your flight be delayed (please note, they cannot be held financially responsible). The hotel can organise a limo to take you from the airport to the bay for THB1,650 each way, for up to three guests. Minivans (for up to four guests) can be organised for THB 2,000 each way.

If you fancy more action mountain bikes are available for guests; on the beach try your hand at kayaking or volleyball; boats can be chartered for fishing or island adventures; have a game of tennis or basketball on the flood-lit courts; or make like a local with a Thai cooking class. You can also take the scheduled boat to Phuket and explore the mainland.

When we jump onto the white sandy beach, someone is already waiting to lead us to our beachside palace. We pass the gym, spa, a couple of restaurants, a cosy library with a few computers (although why would anyone want to know what was going on in the real world?), three swimming pools and a tennis court. Located partway between Bangkok and Pattaya City, Si Racha is a coastal town overlooking the Gulf of Thailand. It was here that the popular hot sauce, Sriracha, was created by Thanom Chakkapak using chilli peppers, vinegar and garlic before being exported around the globe.

Offering magnificent views across the Gulf of Thailand is the Khao Phra Kru Monastery, which encompasses a small shrine dedicated to Buddha. Admire the carved dragons and listen to the monks chanting before relaxing on the colourful terrace. A highlight is the crystal ball offering an inverted view of the townscape below.

Connected to Si Racha by a causeway is the rocky island of Ko Loi, which is ringed by beaches and coral reefs. Pay your respects at the ornately decorated Buddhist temple and let the kids run loose in the playground before spotting sea turtles in the surrounding waters. Ko Loi can easily be accessed from Surasak Montri Public Park, a picturesque green space that stretches along the waterfront of Si Racha.

Although generally considered to be a honeymoon destination, children are welcome here. They will enjoy the sea and sand and older kids can be happily entertained by the various creative classes and excursions run by the hotel.
