The Icarus Landing System is a discreet augmentation surgically implanted in the user's lower back, slightly above the coccyx at the base of the vertebral column. The device has an accelerative descent sensor built in; in freefall, the unit will automatically activate the patented High-Fall Safeguard System, an EMF decelerator generating a fixed-focus electromagnetic lensing field, projected downward along the plane of the drop. This field pushes against the Earth's magnetosphere and slows the user's descent to a manageable velocity, allowing him to fall from almost any height (within reason).

Info: Essentially a safety device to prevent death or serious injury when falling from extreme heights, the Icarus Landing System is an automatically-triggered augmentation that allows users to drop from heights above 10 meters (32 feet) without incurring physical damage. As a side-effect, falling directly on to an enemy combatant will result in a knock-down, knock-out attack, while striking a light object will displace it.

The Icarus Landing System is not context-sensitive, but will only activate when falling from a height of at least ten meters or above. It does not require energy and thus allows for quick escapes from enemies (as well as enabling shortcuts not otherwise possible).

There are a number of locations that can only be accessed with this augmentation, usually in out-of-the-way areas. The Cybernetic Arm Prosthesis' Punch Through Wall upgrade often works in tandem with the landing system in opening alternate routes for travel/exploration. More often than not, many enemies and/or security measures can be bypassed in this way.

Stealthy players can make use of the augmentation to make quick descents behind unsuspecting enemies. However, unless combined with the Cybernetic Leg Prosthesis' Jump/Land Silently augmentation, enemies within a close proximity will typically catch notice of the noise.

The landing system is also useful in a more direct way. Should the player get the drop on an enemy from above, they can brace themselves before hitting the ground to create an EM stun effect. The detonation of field upon impact carries enough power to knock-down (stun) most enemies within point-blank range. Even the toughest of enemies, such as Ogres, can be briefly staggered by the blast.

Info: iCarus is an innovative plug-and-play solar energy system designed for balconies and terraces, offering families an easy way to cut energy costs. The heart of the technology is a lightweight, highly efficient photovoltaic panel made from composite materials, weighing 70% less than traditional glass panels. Weighing under 10kg, it ensures easy installation without stressing structures. A complementary micro-inverter converts the produced energy, making it available in your home network.

It all started with a vision to expand the boundaries of photovoltaics beyond traditional installations on rooftops and solar farms. We wanted to make solar power a part of our everyday lives by bringing it to new applications. With iCarus, we have achieved just that.

iCarus is a plug-and-play system that can be easily installed on any balcony or terrace, allowing each family to reduce their energy expenditure. We recognized that every home, regardless of size, consumes energy passively throughout the day. Appliances like refrigerators, freezers, TVs and sockets draw power even when we are not present. With iCarus, we offer a solution to eliminate these passive daytime consumptions by introducing self-generated electricity directly from the home plug. It is a simple and efficient way to lower energy bills and reduce our environmental footprint.

What sets iCarus apart from other products on the market is its lightweight and versatile design. At the heart of our technology is a photovoltaic panel made from composite materials, boasting maximum efficiency while weighing nearly 70% less than traditional glass panels. This means you can install iCarus on your balcony without stressing the structures and railings, as it weighs less than 10kg. Safety and ease of installation are our top priorities.

To complement the system, we have developed a micro-inverter that converts the energy produced by the panel and makes it available in your home network. Additionally, our user-friendly app allows you to monitor daily production and track your savings. We believe that empowering individuals with the ability to generate their own clean energy is crucial for a more sustainable future.

Not only is iCarus efficient and practical, but it is also environmentally friendly. The panel is 100% recyclable, and its absence of glass ensures an increased safety against acts of vandalism. We are proud to offer a product that not only benefits you financially but also contributes to a greener planet.

Ground Fixing System: The iCarus ground fixing system offers the greatest versatility with a lightweight and durable aluminium structure. With this system, it will be possible to install the iCarus system on balconies on the ground or in the garden. It will be necessary to anchor the structure to the ground or apply 60 kg of counterweight for the correct installation (not included in the KIT)

The platform, highly expandable and adaptable to any type of user, consists essentially of the control unit, which oversees all functions of the system, and the PC side control software that communicates with the control unit via TCP/IP allowing total remote management over LAN/WAN/VPN. The system works without the use of a PC, which is only necessary for programming through our software.

Unmanned aerial systems (UAS) share very low-level (VLL) airspace with conventional aircraft. To maintain separation among all users of this airspace, the altitudes of all aircraft must be known unambiguously through a common datum. However, while manned aviation uses pressure altitude obtained from barometric readings, UAS may use other systems such as GNSS-based altitudes.

New methods and procedures are needed for the expected large numbers of drones that operates in the VLL airspace, especially over cities where the existing altitude references cannot always address the challenges arising from flying near, or sometimes even below, ground obstacles. ICARUS carried out a thorough analysis of the challenges involved in drone operations conducted in VLL airspace, including a public survey, and gap analysis. With this information, the project defined a system architecture and prototype to validate the ICARUS concept of operations (ConOps).

The research proposed an innovative solution for a common altitude reference in VLL airspace by defining new U-space services and validated the findings in real operational environments. The solution enables both traditional and new unmanned airspace users to continue to use their preferred altitude reference system while ensuring safety and interoperability. Additionally, those embracing the full range of ICARUS services benefit the most from added functionalities regarding obstacle detection and avoidance, and the added accuracy of height measurements.

Icarus system requirements will make even the best gaming PCs sweat, so you might want to consider upgrading your rig before jumping into this gruelling survival sim. Graphically, Icarus demands something comparable to an Nvidia GTX 1060 to run at minimum settings, but you'll need a coveted NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti to enjoy the game at its best. It's also possible to scrape by using an Intel i5 8400 CPU, but Icarus' developers, RocketWerkz, recommend an Intel i7-9700.

You'll need to free up at least 70GB on your storage solution of choice, be it a gaming SSD or hard drive. You'll need also needs at least 16GB of RAM to run Icarus, but you'll need a whopping 32GB to play the game at its full potential.

Icarus can be downloaded via Steam, but it hasn't been announced for the Epic Game Store or Xbox Game Pass. However, just like with all releases, this could change at a later date, and the PvE game could become part of Microsoft's subscription service.

Icarus is now available on PC via Steam, initially receiving mixed reviews on Valve's storefront, though it now sits comfortably on Very Positive reviews. Developed by RocketWerkz, a new studio headed by DayZ creator Dean Hall, the game is a co-op sci-fi survival adventure that features missions, biomes, and a treacherous world that evolves over time.
