So the issue is, since MATLAB 2013a is bit old, and there many functions/arguments that wont support this version. So is there any way to update the MATLAB to a latest version without losing the support of tools that only works in 2013a? Hope you understood my question. Thanks.

I've been looking around for solutions to this and can't really seem to find a good answer so I thought I'd try this. I'm trying to install MATLAB 2013a on Saucy Salamander. I have all the files already downloaded and extracted to my Desktop. The installation files are for Linux 64 bit. This is what I'm doing and getting on the terminal (keep in mind I'm completely new to Linux and Ubuntu):

I downloaded Matlab R2013a on mac OSX 10.9 from the university isd page. And after installation key page, it asks me enter the full path of license file . I tried looking archieve, bin, license.txt. But no no there is nowhere like license.lic ??

A package of documentation and software supporting MATLAB/Simulink based dynamic modeling and simulation of quadcopter vehicles for control system design.
IMPORTANT: Not tested on MATLAB/Simulink beyond 2013a! The 2014b release appears to cause issues with the animation function and may cause other as of yet other undiscovered issues. Please share bugs with the author via email and be sure to specify the OS and version of MATLAB/Simulink being used. Users are encouraged to run these files on MATLAB 2013a if possible.

All code has been successfully tested with MATLAB 2013a, MATLAB 2014a, G++ 4.7 in Ubuntu 14.04 LTS, and Windows Visual C++ 2010. Also, SQLite must be installed prior to performing the following steps.

Here, we do a quick test by driving the Husky remotely using MATLAB. This showcases a small portion of the abilities that MATLAB presents us. If you already have a Husky (or a virtual one), and have MATLAB 2013a or 2013b installed, you can try this out right now!

Mathworks has two annual releases of Matlab: the "a" release in the spring and the "b" release in the fall. Each release gets tagged with the current year and "a" or "b". For example, "Matlab 2013a" is the spring release for 2013.

It is not possible to use matlabpool jobs on the cluster from your desktop due to firewall restrictions. Instead, desktop MATLAB users should use the batch submit options described in the MatLab DCS configuration to submit their jobs to the cluster. Matlabpool jobs are possible when running MATLAB directly on the cluster as described in matlabpool from the head node .

Using MATLAB directly on the cluster is recommended only for people comfortable accessing systems via a command line environment (eg. secure shell SSH). SSH access to Cheaha supports X Windows and VNC sessions for displaying a full graphical MATLAB development environment on client desktops with an X Windows servers or VNC client applications installed. For more information please see MatLab CLI. Matlabpool jobs are possible when running MATLAB directly in this environment as described in matlabpool from the head node .

Mathworks TAH license -- either campus or student -- will make it easier for everyone in the UAB community to use MATLAB, MATLAB Toolboxes (extensions) and Simulink software. Specifically, it authorizes use of MATLAB on university owned machines for all faculty, staff and students. Faculty and staff are also entitled to install the software (TAH campus - 678600) on personally owned computers. Students are authorized to install TAH student (TAH student - 731730) are authorized to install this software on their personal computer. It is important each authorized user of either TAH license to use the the authentication key corresponding to their authorized TAH license. That is, authorized users of TAH campus (678600) should use the authentication key obtained from , after selecting Mathworks/Mathlab, corresponding to the Faculty/staff group. Similarly, authorized users for TAH student (731730) should use the authentication key for the Students group. For questions on which authentication key to use or with help on installing MATHLAB software on your computer, please contact as...@uab.edu or post a question the list serve matla...@vo.uabgrid.uab.edu.

As I stated earlier, I am not a C++ user and I am not prepared to support users of this combination of MKL and Matlab. I have not tested the package with any versions of Matlab other than 2013a-64 bit on Windows. Since my version of Matlab is old, its mex build facility does not work, so I use batch files as noted above.

icx /LD %1.obj common.obj matlabmatrix.obj sparsematrix.obj pardisoinfo.obj libmx.lib libmex.lib /Fe%1.mexw64 /link /LIBPATH:"C:\Program Files\matlab\R2019b\extern\lib\win64\microsoft" /LIBPATH:"C:\Program Files (x86)\Intel\oneAPI\mkl\2022.0.0\lib\intel64" /export:mexFunction mkl_intel_lp64_dll.lib mkl_core_dll.lib

I don't think it's matlab's fault here or anything to do with mex, as my sanity check discovered. Initially, if you recall, I said "returns (unhelpful) type -1." Somewhere in the docs, there should be a warning about it.

In this work, a CFD model is developed to simulate the working of a 6mm diameter two-phase closed thermosyphon using water as the working fluid. At each section (evaporator, condenser, adiabatic) of the thermosyphon, lumped equations have been developed to calculate the temperatures at corresponding sections. In order to process two phase flow inside the system, a user-defined function (UDF) has been developed and integrated with the CFD model. The volume of fluid (VOF) method is used to carry out the simulations in Ansys FLUENT 15 and the lumped equations are solved in MATLAB 2013a. Volume fractions and temperature profiles obtained from CFD simulations and the lumped parametric estimations are found to be in good agreement with the experimental results available in literature.

The authors focus in the contribution on finding and testing effective digital image processing methods in line crossing detection systems. To verify experimental real-world results the authors used the Matlab 2013a and Digital Signal Processing Toolbox software tools. In the line detection block in the designed application the driving lane is searched using segmentation techniques suitable for line detection. The information on road position (driving lanes) has been acquired based on edge detection of guiding lines. For line detection, the proposed modifications of Hough transform and local processing methods have been used. During the testing process testing video-sequences were created with several parameters: traffic situations (day-drive, night-drive, drive on distinct road types, highway drive etc.), temporary traffic signs (presence of temporary traffic signs in form of orange lines, absence of temporary traffic signs). A change of light conditions has also been simulated during testing by adding an additional noise and by determining its effects on line detection.
