can You implement a function that I can move a CLIP in the timeline with the same keys I can use for moving the playhead?
It is pretty inconvenient when I want to move a clip framewise because therefore I have to zoom in a lot to to have the mouse working in a decent sensitivity (time display shows that I move the clip framewise) when grabbing the clip with the mouse and moving it left or write.
Thanks for Your efforts and stay healthy!

This is called nudging and requested previously at least once. What should happen when the clip is right next to another clip or the nudging makes it reach another clip? Currently, with ripple turned off, it starts to make a transition when you overlap. Is that what you want? Or should nudge always be in overwrite mode? I am curious to know your expectation.
Since I start each new project time-synchronizing three or more big clips, this feature would be extremely useful to me.
(And for this use, the question above would be moot, as each clip has its own exclusive track.)
But if the ability to nudge (move) clips with keys is there, the question of how that will effect projects where there are more than one clip on a timeline must be resolved; the ability would be present for all Shotcut users on all projects, regardless of how many clips the user has placed on each of their Timeline Tracks.
In Premier Pro, you can enable the movement mode for the clip by pressing D. After that, the clip can be moved with the arrows to the right and left frame-by-frame along the track, up and down between tracks.
If I need to move the clip so that a certain frame from its middle coincides with the desired timestamp, then of course I will do it with the mouse if we are talking about large values. But if I need to move the clip frame by frame, then moving the clip with the mouse is a whole epic with zoom, freezes and trembling hands
For the life of me, I can not figure out how to split a clip at the scrubber directly on the timeline with a keyboard shortcut. Even the most basic editors offer this. I am sure Pr does as well....right?
But I presume you're going to then do something after adding the cut, like perhaps ripple deleting one of the two segments you just created. If so, you might want to try Ripple Trim Next Edit to Playhead (W) and Ripple Trim Previous Edit to Playhead (Q).
Typically, if I want to tidy up the project in my timeline, I press C for the razor tool, mouse over the spot I want to split, and click. I want to do this with a keyboard short cut at the spot of the scrubber.
I only had to have the sequence selected and then simply hit "c" on the keyboard to get the razor (I have not changed any of the keyboard shortcuts yet. I was able to keep clicking and cutting without selecting anything. If I did have something selected in the timeline, then I could still use c to goto the razor and cut, then I used "v" to go back to the pointer.
In CS6, in the timeline once the video/audio tracks are properly highlighted, it's down arrow to go right, up arrow to go left. You don't say which version of PPro you have. Also, you may want to check the keyboard shortcuts to be certain. Make sure
And for bonus points, it doesn't work on the "out" point in your sequence. So if you only have one clip in your sequence, you'll be pounding the down arrow and swearing, wondering why it doesn't work (which is how I spent my morning).
in my case the issue is not solved: the track selected. When usind the standard Option+Lef or Option+Right the playhead doesnt go the next clip, but the the next "marker", I havn't set any markers, so it simply goes to the next clip in EVERY track, not just the one on which I'm working at the moment.
Keep the track you want to move in as the only active track. If it is V1 you want to move in, toggle it a the only one with blue over it. Then use the up and down keys. As far as I checked, that solves the problem. It is actually mentioned in one of the previous comments.
I presume everyone clips/unclips contents of selected frame a lot; however there is no keyboard shortcut for it as per my knowledge.
Would be time-saving to have a keyboard shortcut to toggle clip/unclip for selected frame.
From day one we had a vision to manufacture our inventions as close to the end user as possible. Now in the USA and UK markets the Caps N Lock keyboard clip will be made by local businesses in your country.
Want to maintain Microsoft Teams available status for longer? Ever rush back to your pc to wiggle the mouse? Want to know how to stop laptop from sleeping? Caps N Lock is a keyboard clip that attaches to your CAPS LOCK key and keeps computer active.
Wow! There are so many expensive mouse mover products in the market yet only one original keyboard jiggler that delivers the same reliable result as typing on your keyboard & no mouse, electronics or usb ports needed!
Caps N Lock closes the collaboration gap between employees and their colleagues as they work on multiple devices at home. We empower workers to control their working status at home while embracing the trust bestowed upon them by their employer. Forget about mouse jigglers and caffeine software to keep Teams icon green. Keep it simple and just connect a Caps N Lock device to your keyboard.
For any home office setup where Microsoft Teams, Slack or other work communication platform is used, you will need to consider the office essentials. There are many gadgets for office set up at home. The ideal working from home set up will focus on helping you complete your tasks easier and more efficiently than before. Depending on your job and after choosing your location for the wfh space, the desk you sit at and the laptop or PC you use may be the 1st products you purchase.
The realities of working from home soon become clear. We change from laptop to mobile mid call. We work at our new desk and on the old sofa downstairs. We work while making coffee and we solve problems while sitting on the kitchen work top. This is still your home but now, for half of the waking day, it transforms into an office without the corporate compliance considerations.
Your work at home laptop or home workstation, AKA your "wfh desk" needs to help you balance the realities of home working. Caps N Lock keyboard jiggler devices are made to give you the freedom you need to keep your computer awake and Microsoft Teams status green while you move around your home working hard.
Keeping Microsoft Teams Available helps your colleagues know that you are free to take a call or help them out with a task. No matter your work ethic rushing back to your computer every 5 minutes to wiggle the mouse helps no one. Caps N Lock is a Patented (Pat.Pending) solution to help home workers stop their status showing 'Away' while they work on other tasks.
For many larger organisations your computer is set up and controlled by an IT department. This can prevent you from installing new software such as mouse wiggler apps or making changes to your computer sleep settings. With Caps N Lock no software is required. Just place the device onto your keyboard to hold down Caps Lock*.
Hello all, new to the Deluge, forgive me if this is covered elsewhere. I've looked and searched through the manual but it's not obvious how to do (or if I can do) something that's fairly basic to most MIDI sequencers that I've used in the past, and that is to assign a master keyboard controller (say on MIDI channel 1) as the recording input for whichever clip is currently active/selected, or armed for record. This assignment "follows" the active or armed clip, and doesn't "stick" to it, so as you skip around from clip to clip, you don't need to re-assign/re-learn the input keyboard again.
As I understand it, you can "learn" a MIDI keyboard as the note input for a given clip, but that "sticks" so that that particular clip / track's MIDI instrument is then always played by that MIDI keyboard and if you want to use it to record another MIDI channel on another clip, you need to 1) first "un-learn" it from the clip it's assigned to and then 2) re-"learn" it to the new clip. That's fairly frustrating, especially when you don't remember which clip you last assigned it to.
N.B. The assignments seem to "stack" instead of "stealing"... I'd accept an option to "steal" if a new assignment duplicates a previous one; that would probably solve this mess another way - but a master keyboard option is still by far the most straightforward as no further learn/assign step is required at all.
Is there a way to do what many other sequencers do and assign a MIDI channel as a master channel, so that whatever clip is active (whether playing or recording) notes coming in on that channel plays into that active/armed clip (and if no clip is active it's ignored)?
I've considered the possibility of changing the channel on the controlling keyboard and learning a new channel per clip, but that doesn't solve the problem, because as the song builds/develops, multiple clips are going to play the same instrument (sometimes with different patches and banks, too). For the same reason, making a template song doesn't solve it, either.
Yeah, that's annoying. Had the same problem.
Would be nice if it was either auto unlearn when learning a new clip, or just grabbed the input from the keyboard when selecting a (any) midi clip, like my previous controller did.
What's your asking really doesn't exist in the current software version. For what it's worth, what I do is I have all my midi gear with keyboards going to a merge box and then into the deluge. That way each keyboard is live, and when I learn one it learns them all. It doesn't matter what channel they're transmitting on, as the deluge seems to ignore incoming midi channels (correct?). It's rather simple in song mode to just hold the learn button - any row that has a memorized input controller will blink rapidly. You can click on the row to unlearn, then continue to hold the learn button and tap the row you want to learn, hit a key and you're good to go. Not ideal, but very quick and visual. About the same amount of time as changing the midi channel on a controller. Plus you can learn multiple rows for simultaneous layering.
One thing to know about the Deluge is that you have to "unlearn" your own mind. A lot of manufacturers went with the "status quo" on how to do things over the years, of which we've been trained, and of which the Deluge doesn't always follow. I find that refreshing as it brings me to another way of thinking that's more out of the box and expansive. But sometimes teaching an old dog new tricks..... well, I'm 65, so I've seen it all - purchased my first Mini Moog in 1976!
