I'm sorry you're running into this issue with the driver download. Sometimes (especially if it's attempted a couple of times) driver installs can get corrupted and freeze. In these cases, it is best to start fresh.

Your computer will restart and Windows will detect and reinstall the missing driver, correcting any corruption. Then go back to that Driver tab and let me know what the version number shown is, after the reinstallation.

Also, let me know what your current BIOS version is. BIOS is connected with every other driver on the computer and those drivers are designed around the latest BIOS. It could help to have the latest BIOS. Let me know which version you have currently by pressing the FN + ESC keys. Look for 'F.##'.

If you're trying to update the wireless driver, take a look at the items listed on the Driver Page under 'Driver - Network (9)'. Look for the items that say WiFi/Wireless. There are several different brands (Ralink, Atheros, Broadcom, Realtek) of wireless cards that could be in your notebook.

Looking in 'device manager' under the network adapters section there's an apparently working '1394 Net Adaptor' but under unknown devices there's the question-marked ethernet controller, which I believe is what I want the driver for.

I've tried right-clicking on the .inf file and using 'install' and also tried just copying the .sys file into the system32/drivers folder but neither have got me anywhere after restarting. The ethernet controller is still listed in 'unknown devices'.

In the device manager you should open the properties of this ethernet adapter with question mark and on a driver tab click a button Update driver. Then you should point the location where to search for a driver.

Your USB wireless dongle is this: 0bda:c811 Realtek Semiconductor Corp. 802.11ac NIC. The rtl8168 device is ethernet, not wireless. The correct driver is rtl8821CU but the driver you installed didn't build correctly and so is not installed and working.

I somehow either deleted or corrupted the driver that runs the ethernet connection for my motherboard and I'm not sure how this happened. I know this is what happens because my internet works on my other devices and I live booted another distro and the internet connection was stable.

Ever since I got my 12th gen Framework the Realtek USB GbE Family Controller has giving me a Code 10 error and not working with ethernet connection.
I am using a Wavlink usb-c docking station (link to it below) and downloaded the driver pack with it. This docking station has worked fine with my previous laptop.
I have already tried connecting it using different ports on my Framework and tried manual update from list of drivers with no luck.
Any help would be appreciated.

NVIDIA offers a robust and full set of protocol software and driver for Linux with the ConnectX EN family cards. Designed to provide a high performance support for Enhanced Ethernet with fabric consolidation over TCP/IP based LAN applications. The driver and software in conjunction with the Industry's leading ConnectX family of cards achieve full line rate, full duplex of up to 400Gbps performance per port.

Set Jumbo Frame (or Jumbo Packet) to the maximum supported value, for example, 9014 bytes. Gigabit Ethernet controllers that support jumbo frames can transfer packet sizes larger than the standard Ethernet frame size (1500 bytes).

Set Receive Buffers (or Receive Descriptors) to the maximum supported value, for example, 2048. For some Ethernet controller drivers, this setting is grouped under Performance Options.

Make sure that any vendor drivers are unchecked and that anti-virus program drivers are unchecked. If you cannot uncheck the anti-virus software from the adaptor due to organization restrictions, you may need to purchase a second gigabit Ethernet card. In this case, leave all of the options as is for the network card for your PC, and configure the second card as described here, which will only connect to your camera.

We recommend that you install the latest PV drivers to improve the stability and performance of your EC2 Windows instances. The directions on this page help you download the driver package and run the install program.

Use the following procedure to perform an in-place upgrade of AWS PV drivers, or to upgrade from Citrix PV drivers to AWS PV drivers on Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Server 2012, Windows Server 2012 R2, Windows Server 2016, Windows Server 2019, or Windows Server 2022. This upgrade is not available for RedHat drivers, or for other versions of Windows Server.

Some older versions of Windows Server can't use the latest drivers. To verify which driver version to use for your operating system, see the driver version table in the Paravirtual drivers for Windows instances page.

We recommend that you take all non-system disks offline and note any drive letter mappings to the secondary disks in Disk Management before you perform this upgrade. This step is not required if you are performing an in-place update of AWS PV drivers. We also recommend setting non-essential services to Manual start-up in the Services console.

After running the MSI, the instance automatically reboots and then upgrades the driver. The instance will not be available for up to 15 minutes. After the upgrade is complete and the instance passes both health checks in the Amazon EC2 console, you can verify that the new driver was installed by connecting to the instance using Remote Desktop and then running the following PowerShell command:

Verify that the driver version is the same as the latest version listed in the Driver Version History table. For more information, see AWS PV driver package history Open Disk Management to review any offline secondary volumes and bring them online corresponding to the drive letters noted in Step 6.

If you previously disabled TCP offloading using Netsh for Citrix PV drivers we recommend that you re-enable this feature after upgrading to AWS PV drivers. TCP Offloading issues with Citrix drivers are not present in the AWS PV drivers. As a result, TCP Offloading provides better performance with AWS PV drivers.

We recommend that you create a backup of your domain controller in case you need to roll back your changes. Using an AMI as a backup is not supported. For more information, see Backup and Restore Considerations for Virtualized Domain Controllers in the Microsoft documentation.

The system must boot into DSRM because the upgrade utility removes Citrix PV storage drivers so it can install AWS PV drivers. Therefore we recommend noting any drive letter and folder mappings to the secondary disks in Disk Management. When Citrix PV storage drivers are not present, secondary drives are not detected. Domain controllers that use an NTDS folder on secondary drives will not boot because the secondary disk is not detected.

To complete the upgrade process, verify that the new driver was installed. In Device Manager, under Storage Controllers, locate AWS PV Storage Host Adapter. Verify that the driver version is the same as the latest version listed in the Driver Version History table. For more information, see AWS PV driver package history.

If you are using Citrix PV drivers on Windows Server, you can upgrade the Citrix Xen guest agent service. This Windows service handles tasks such as shutdown and restart events from the API. You can run this upgrade package on any version of Windows Server, as long as the instance is running Citrix PV drivers.

Before you start upgrading your drivers, make sure you back up your important information on the instance, or create an AMI from the instance. For more information about creating an AMI, see Create a custom Windows AMI. If you create an AMI, make sure you do the following:

A driver CD is included, however we recommend downloading drivers to ensure the latest version is used. For updated drivers please visit the Plugable drivers page by clicking here. Windows installation is easy as 1-2-3!
