Subj: I am prepared to represent YOU in the US Congress-- a physician who understands Health CareDear friend,I am the Republican candidate for the US Congress in NJ District 12. I want to thank you for your support thus far, but I need to press on.I have probably prepared my whole life for this. I am an internist in private practice and served as the national President of the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons in 2012, the only physician organization that sued to overturn the Affordable Care Act the day after it was enacted. I started the Zarephath Health Center, a non-government free clinic, and have learned that there are much better ways to care for the poor and uninsured without fleecing the taxpayers. We also must find a way to protect the doctors with meaningful medical malpractice reform. NJ S-94 was legislation I drafted that would essentially accomplish both, and we are hoping that NJ Senator Vitale brings it before the NJ Senate Health Committee in July.On June 12, in Washington, DC, I met with several DC PAC Coordinators. One had already heard from Dr. Herb Kunkle, an orthopedic surgeon. We had a great interview, and she wanted to know how I can win this race.I explained that, while the District is weighted more for the Democrats, more than half are unaffiliated voters. Rush Holt has been the Congressman for the past 14 years, but has decided not to run again. Thus it is an open seat. My Democratic opponent is NJ Assemblywoman Bonnie Watson-Coleman, not well known outside her legislative district. She is in favor of ObamaCare, more regulations and and higher taxes.NJ Governor Republican Chris Christie won the District by a wide margin just last year. There is much discontent with the Affordable Care Act, the economy, the high cost of living and lack of jobs. I have a team in place to do the strategic work to win this race to provide common sense to Congress, reduce the regulatory burden, end wasteful programs, and provide a better solution to the health care debacle. Here is what Dr. Herb Kunkle, an orthopedic surgeon from Pennsylvania wrote to the Orthopedic PAC director:
I understand tomorrow (June 12) you'll be mtg c US House candidates including
Dr. Alieta Eck. Just a reminder of my, and most physicians in NJ, Eastern and Central PA's strong endorsement of Dr. Eck. I'm sure once you meet her, you and the AAOS family will feel same and support in whatever way you can.
One of the many good and successful projects Dr. Eck has accomplished is
creating Zarephath Health Center - ZHCenter.org which serves 3-400 folks/month,
40,000 visits the past 10 yrs, of the un/underinsured in the New Brunswick area.
She's also a friend and colleague who has been working c us the past 2+ yrs
on our regional project, including physicians and businessmen. We plan to
have an event/fundraiser for her in Central NJ late summer.
I remain an optimist, but I think many folks are beginning to look for substance and solution, rather than idealogical stuff that is not economically sustainable nor contributes to the structure of a viable HC system of the future where folks have responsibility for decisions made.
You'll find Dr. Eck has these ideas and is practicing them. Alieta will support all and be a strong advocate for physicians and our relationship c the patents we serve.
Thanks again.Regards,Herb Kunkle, MD
Much legislation effecting health care is passed without consulting practicing physicians, so I want to add a loud voice.
The key is that I need at least $500,000 to $1 million to run this campaign. Here is what you can do to help me win and become an outspoken voice in Washington, DC.
1) Make as generous a donation as possible by going to www.eckforcongress.com. You can donate securely on line up to $2600 per person and $5800 per couple. Consider this an investment in the future of your children and grandchildren, as our economy cannot withstand too much more of an assault on the taxpayers.
2) Send an e-mail of endorsement to the director of your business or physician specialty DC PAC. Each PAC board will make a decision in the next few weeks to contribute from the PAC and to endorse me. If you are willing to do this, please e-mail me and I can give you the contact information for your PAC.
Thank you, and I look forward to serving on behalf of all patients, physicians and taxpayers in the US House of Representatives.Sincerely.Alieta Eck, MD
