Reminder:: You are invited to the OWASP Long Island chapter meeting.  Please register by using the link below..


When: Thursday, September 22, 2011 6:30pm - 9:30pm
Where: Student Center Room # 127 East, Hempstead, NY 11549-1000.   Campus map.  Google map.

Going West on Hempstead Turnpike, turn right (north) into Hofstra’s main entrance. This is at the 3rd traffic light from the Meadowbrook Parkway.  Make the first left into the primary parking lot (P1 on the campus map). If that is full you can make the second left into the secondary parking lot – marked P2 on the campus map. Then walk into the Student Center building and turn left. The room is down on your left. Room # 127 East.
How Much: Free.  Pizza and beverages will be provided.  This event is supported 100% by OWASP Long Island volunteers.

Who Are We:  We are volunteers of OWASP, a worldwide charitable organization focused on improving the security of application software.  Everyone is free to participate in OWASP and all of our materials are available under a free and open software license.



Meeting Agenda:

Helen Gao - Cross-site scripting, the most prevalent. Web application vulnerability:
Helen will discuss one of the most widespread Web application Vulnerabilities.  How can an application be attacked and how to protect yourself.

About the Speaker - Helen Gao has worked in the field of information security since 1991. Helen has worked as an application developer, project manager, and software architect. Her employment history includes working at a financial institution, a market research company, a high-tech device manufacturer and a software company.  Helen is currently a senior architect at TIBCO Software Inc. Her job duties include the design and development of complex event processing software. The protection of information security in such systems is challenging, due to their strict performance requirements in terms of high event throughput and low processing latency. Helen welcomes the challenge and uses the knowledge she obtained from OWASP to manage project life cycles.
