Are we having practice this week? I remember us leaving it up in the air last week but don’t remember if we were pushing either way. Nats guys, what’s up?

I texted fang earlier about this and he said he couldnt make it. I suppose I could go but honestly I'd rather put it off because I have to study for finals, which is probably Fang's reasoning too. I'm good to go though if you decide to hold practice.

Sean you're the homeboy, and I think everyone seems to want Wednesday.  What do you think Nate?

Yes, no, maybe so? I assumed no because of finals and the seniors graduated, but I forget where we left it last week.

We have finals so probably not. I also have mass/service stuff for my grandma Wednesday and Thursday so that won't work.

Yeah probably no practice this week. Did we agree on anything for meeting during the gap between nats and school?

If we aren't going to meet during this week (which is totally fine, you guys have finals and such), then we definitely should work out a time to meet between the end of the school year and prior to us leaving for Nats. There is not very much time between now and then, as we leave in the early morning hours of Sunday the 16th, so we have a little less than 2 weeks to prepare.

To that end, I think we should try to meet this weekend. Would people be able to meet on Saturday or Sunday?

I believe I'm available this Saturday, but i'm not 100% certain. I'll figure that out more. I think we are in dire need of some practice rounds so a couple hours of that might be nice to get in the rhythm of things.

Curtis & Sean - some thoughts on how you could turn your current fast aff into a potential medium version of your 1ac

- It would be about as long as your current lay aff
- You could run your fast aff pretty much the way it is, just with a reduced deployment advantage and a more robust solvency contention. Being able to explain exactly what your aff does in very easy to understand, persuasive, and concise terms is key for Nationals. It will be essential for judges that aren't that familiar with policy or that have only a little understanding of what policy is. You will have a lot of judges at nats that you will win over by giving them a key phrase or two to latch onto and be able to vote on, so having a more robust solvency contention allows them to understand your aff better and gives you a lot of different ways you can explain it. This is also true of impacts, if you really emphasize something like "economic decline is the biggest impact - statistical evidence prove the worst wars only happen in times of economic decline" as a main point in the round, you'll be able to pick up a lot of slow-medium judges who don't know policy that well.
--- I would go naval power + 1 scenario
--- You want to explain why the fed is key and get your states/privates answers set p in the 1ac
- You need to retag everything - you really have to have a full claim and a warrant in every tag and not in clippy fast language. You have to sound persuasive to people at nats, and you won't with 5 word tags. Most of the tags in your "lay" aff are too short & have this same problem too.

I apologize. I forgot Saturday is actually my birthday, and we have a bunch of fam bam activities that I must attend. I think I might be able to do Thursday, or Sunday actually. I believe finals finish on Thursday. I could get dropped off at school with my brother, and maybe after finals are over, Sean, Curtis and I could head over to Connor's house. Obviously it's up to Connor if he's okay with us having practice at his house, and if Nate is available then. I do think Thursday would be the best compromise for at least 3 of us since we're already in the area. Lemme know.

Sean can't do Thursday. Ideally all 4 of you would be there so we can have practice rounds, and since Sean couldn't make last Tuesday's practice I want to make sure we schedule a time where he can make it. Sunday?

Also we can meet sometime next week as well, just keep in mind we'll be running lower on time to get our house in order for nats.

Sorry for the late notice i can't do sunday because I'm going on an all day fishing trip, but we could hold practice at my house pretty much whenever next week during the week.

Curtis and Sean? Nate...I don't remember if you work all week or if you have days where you get off work earlier. If everyone could put down when they're available next week. Connor is free during the week. I should be as well.
