A couple of people who passed the licensing exam(s) online admitted to being a bit lost about operating procedure which pre-Covid was covered by two of the practical assessments.  Therefore I propose to run some demonstrations this Saturday afternoon (21st May) to cover making or responding to a call on SSB (HF) and FM (VHF/UHF).  Given the small size of the shack and Covid precautions it would be limited to two per session and we'd need the best part of an hour.

Igor, Doug, Oleg and Adrian have first refusal as they're studying or recently qualified but we can probably do three sessions which leaves room for at least another two although if not already licensed then you'd need ideally to have the coursebook and an exam date in mind to satisfy the (modified) regulation about operating under supervision while on a course.

Respond below if interested and if any licensed members have time it would be useful to have a 'stooge' or two for the QSOs.

Hi JJ.

I would like to make some practice. Which time slots are available? I can come between 2pm and 6pm.

Best regards
Igor

All of them at the moment.  :-(

Tell everyone how useful they'll find it!

Hi,
Thanks for putting this on.  I have a callsign (M6PHR) and am registered with the RSGB but have never actually done any operating other than as part of the exam, which was quite a while ago...  I would love to come along.  I can make any time up until about 5:30pm.  Also: I am a member of the hackspace, but only recently, so need to have my card set up etc.  Can we do that at the same time?
Regards,
Alan.

I am away this weekend, so that's one fewer to consider wrt finding supervisors. I would like to at some point in the following week or two, though I understand that it complicates organising it.

Igor, Alan: Can you both do 3pm tomorrow?  Anyone else shout now and I'll confirm in the morning.

Okay, I'll be in from 3pm or a bit before until at least 5pm so if anyone turns up on spec we should have some time.
