Have I mentioned lately how Microsoft sucks? The .pptx files are the latest MS version and of course incompatible with other vers. Open office will have a converter soon but not yet.

  Today's Topic Summary

 Topic: My schedule
    Chris <C...@Xymox1.com> Dec 01 01:32PM -0700

I will _NOT_ be able to be awake all night here in the US waiting for collisions later today/tonight. :(

I have to work Wednesday all day as well. :( :(

WHY IS IT that CERN keeps picking days I have do to do work on to have some exciting event !!

SO, if anyone on this list sees collisions, or they announce anything, make sure to post it to the list for me !

Collisions are scheduled for Wednesday CERN TIME UTC/GMT +1 hour. Anytime in the 24 hours after 4PM pacific. The exact timing will be variable. They are scheduled for 450GeV BUT WHO KNOWS maybe someone might try to ramp the beam and collide at higher energies. I am still suspicious after they were sneaky with previous major milestones.

That 2e10 is interesting. Might indicate higher power collisions.

LHCb's Logbook yet again has the info. Collisions planned this week, but
    with beams at 450GeV each.

    - 08:00 Dump tests with beam
    - 12:00 Short access (1 hour machine, 2 hours for UXs)
    start pre-cycling machine

    Afternoon/evening:

    - 15:00 15 min of TI2 TED shots for ALICE, 30 min of
inject/circ and dump for RF checks
    - 16:00 MPS BLM tests, including collimator moves
    - 24:00 Aperture/kick response

Notes: - goal of the week: STABLE BEAMs, *make collisions at 900 GeV*

Also... This says

That 450 GeV collisions are Fri and Sat Morning (Dec 5-6 08:00 CERN / 02:00 EST) if all goes well.

They are making good progress as long as nothing breaks.

I managed to get the pptx to open with Open Office - I think
compatibility was added a little while back?
