Hello Everyone,
I know this email is late in coming and I apologize for not doing it sooner. It's been a bad week as my son had an accident on the way back to North Carolina this weekend and in my attempt to rescue him, the engine blew in my vehicle leaving us stranded along the roadside in the pouring rain in Winchester, KY. Needless to say I have one wrecked vehicle I'm trying to get repaired and I'm off, in just a moment, to purchase a new ride for myself. I hate it when life interfere's with Scouting (lol).

Anyway, I wanted to check with everyone to make sure you have all of your presentations in order and any props and costumes for that, Troop Guide Binders (if you haven't turned the ones from the last weekend in, please bring them in order to do so this weekend), hats for Crazy Hat Day, Jackshirts and Campaign hats and all that other fun stuff. We will wear the tartan neckerchief except on SUNDAY when you will need to the Mauve neckerchief. On Saturday evening, we will have our staff dinner and if you would like to bring civilian clothes for that, feel free.

Accommodations for the weekend will be either camping or sleeping in the admin building (we all just cram in there). If you sleep in Admin, just remember that we will have to remove ALL of our stuff on Saturday afternoon as the Snakes will arrive to take over round 3 pm. We will spend Saturday night in the dining hall but all of your personal items have to be put away prior to the participants returning late morning on Sunday. For either the dining hall or the admin bldg, you will want to have a cot on standby...there are some beds in admin but not enough for everyone...unless we want to get real close (not recommended).

If there is anything I missed or if you have questions, please feel free to let me know. Looking forward to a great weekend!

Back to Gilwell

Kathy,
You may want to remind everyone to bring their black staff jacket from Pat.  There was talk on doing a staff picture in both our Jackshirts and the black jacket.

Kathy

Hope your son is ok.

I have 1 extra cot, if needed.

I’m not sure if the  admin building can handle that much snoring.

I might need to bring some  white noise to help filter out the snoring.

Pat, are there mice in the admin building J

Well, I just needed to share a couple of things passed on to me from my 2 son's.

"some adults still need to grow up"
"my patrol at NYLT never forgot to pick up anyone for a meal"
"wow, that was some campfire"
"How come you told us before that we couldn't do the J.C penney skit?"
"Staffer's are cool"
"I can't wait till I'm 18 cuz I want to go to WB"
and the funniest and scariest of all
"I want to be the next James Metcalf in the council"
and no it was not my youngest who already adores James now I have to James' want a be s.

All in all, as a unit leader and a mother I appreciate the kindness you gave my two sons.

Yours in Scouting,

clarissa

Sorry for the grammatical errors.
it should have stated.

I am not talking about my youngest, who already adores James.  Now, I have two James want-a-bees.

So I have one last question.  Does this serve as an audition for the scribe position?

It's always good to see great young men and you have two examples. They were an asset to our course.

Your guys and the other Venturers were great.  They hung with the staff a lot, so I hope the “need to grow up” was not us!!!  (Even though…..)

All

Thanks for a great ride – it was another awesome scouting experience!!!

Your boys were helpful with the Quarter master

I couldn’t find enough for them to do, when they were asking to help in the kitchen.

This was something I have never done before and an experience I will never forget, working with a lot of great people.
