Description:
The Hetrick-Martin Institute (HMI) is a leading professional provider
of social support and programming for all at-risk youth, particularly
lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender or questioning (“LGBTQ”) youth.
HMI provides a broad range of vital programming to thousands of youth
each year, ranging in age from 12 to 24.
Currently providing services in New York City, HMI seeks a highly
capable and qualified candidate to administer its first out-of-state
direct-service multi-faceted after-school program. This position will
be based in Newark, NJ with frequent travel to/from our Manhattan
headquarters.
Responsibilities:
1) Project Oversight and Management
a) Implement effective staffing and management structure for Newark
Project.
b) Oversee hiring, orientation, supervision, training and termination
of project staff, interns and volunteers.
c) Manage the day-to-day operations of the project.
d) Create, track and manage project budget.
e) Monitor all risk-management issues for project.
i) Oversee creation of project policies and procedures.
f) Report directly to the Board of Directors as necessary.
i) Leadership role in site-wide strategic planning.
2) Program Planning and Design
a) Assist with assessment, planning and design of all project func-
tions/programs.
b) Work with HMI NYC and community stakeholders to develop
collaborative mutually supportive program-wide services , supports and
opportunities for youth members.
c) Link with consultants, researchers and other internal and external
supports to create effective programs design to optimize chances of
achieving agency mission.
3) Trainings
a) Oversee the provision trainings and workshops, to be delivered to
community stakeholders.
4) Program Monitoring
a) Manage, implement and ensure timely internal and external data
collection, analysis and reporting for project, and monitor applicable
contractual compliance.
i) Ensure preparation of monthly contractual reports.
ii) Provide monitoring and oversight for purposes of quality care and
compliance.
5) Grant Management and Budget Stewardship
a) Overall management of grant budgets and budget allocations as
related to services in Newark.
6) Program Evaluation
a) Assist in the creation of effective and targeted evaluation tools
to evaluate success of program design in achieving program outcomes
and overall agency mission.
b) Assist in the assessment of evaluation tools and resulting data to
inform program creation, re-design and ongoing oversight.
7) Community Collaboration
a) Consistent collaboration with community agencies and
constituencies, identified as essential to achieving identified goals
and objectives and overall agency-wide mission.
b) Legislative advocacy as needed and required.
c) Direct communication with project funding sources.
8) Development Responsibility
a) Assist with the provision of program design, monitoring, and
evaluation description for applicable new or renewal grant
applications.
b) Participate in Development functions as directed.
9) Other duties as assigned.
Additional Qualifications:
1. Masters degree in public health, social work, psychology, related
human services field, or equivalent.
2. Specific experience with programmatic Design Development and
Management in not-for-profit setting required.
3. Supervisory and management experience.
4. Program evaluation experience.
5. Experience with at-risk adolescent populations.
6. Knowledge of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender youth issues as
well as multicultural competence.
7. Strong oral and written communication skills.
8. Excellent organizational skills.
9. Computer Skills: Strong with proficiency in all programs of the
current Microsoft Office suite.
