Posted: 03 Dec 2013 03:46 PM PST Good point about the value of doing your own research/investigation/experimenting. On the other hand hopefully looking at what others in the industry have done already, could help stimulate new ideas for research. Re: Asset Management Plan Demand Forecasts Posted: 03 Dec 2013 03:43 PM PST Thanks Ashish, I like that as a way of dealing with the demand forecast. I have probably referred to most of those earlier in the AMP, so probably I can add a few extra words, and have the demand forecast pretty much covered. Posted: 03 Dec 2013 03:38 PM PST Hi Ashish, thanks for the response. The fact that Australian Standards are available through a Council/Library System is useful, and them being free of cost to Council employees is also good, but I think it is even more important for them to be "free of strings". I think it should be possible to link to and quote specific parts of the standards as required, in much the same way it is possible to do with accounting standards, and legislation, e.g. http://www.lgam.info/best-value Forum category: Hidden / Per page discussions Forum thread: Australian Standard |

Posted: 03 Dec 2013 03:28 PM PST I like Wikipedia's definition of best practice: "A best practice is a method or technique that has consistently shown results superior to those achieved with other means, and that is used as a benchmark." But I wonder if there really are a lot of methods and techniques that have consistently shown results superior to those achieved with other means, why there isn't a consolidated list of them somewhere? What a sensational resource it would be. Can anyone name a method or technique that has consistently shown results superior to those achieved with other means? Is there a objective comparision to the alternatives available? Forum category: Hidden / Per page discussions Forum thread: Best Practice |
