We've gotten 24 proposals submitted to FiberCorps of varying quality.
I'd like to invite all of you to join up as mentors, at least for the
review process until April 22. Your role is to provide meaningful
comments to proposals in order to help the students make revisions. If
you're assigned to a project, your comments will be setting
requirements to determine in the final round of reviews if a proposal
is acceptable or not. Otherwise, they'll be considered suggestions
that myself or assigned mentors can require.
I'm not sure if you'll have access to the button that allows students
to edit their proposals, but if you do, please do not use it. I'll be
making comments today on all proposals, asking students to prepare a
single major update to their proposals. They'll have a few days to
email me drafts and then I'll be enabling all of the proposals to be
edited once. The proposals that still require major revisions after
that will be ignored; the rest will be allowed to make minor edits.
Students have had plenty of time to develop viable proposals & if they
haven't been able to do so until now, then they simply aren't ready
for this program.
Everyone's welcome to join as a mentor right now. While you may not
get assigned to a project for the summer, we still want your input on
the proposals.
