You also have to remember Cortana is not active on the phones (until you say hello Cortana or press a set button on older models), I'm sure the desktop version will also have ways to activate her, perhaps even unique voice activation whereby only the person who she knows as the owner will she respond to.
I have been using cortana for a while now and i think that she will be a good application to have on the desktop. i like he fact that she has all the information i like waiting both on the phone and on the pc. sure i can open google and do a search but she already has the news i want there waiting for me to click. the edge browser is also very nice it still has its flaws but so do all browsers. i think microsoft is using their os to promote the phone if you like cortana on the desktop you will love her on the phone and your tablet and your xbox and your watch and specially in your hololens their she will be really cool if they do it right. its just another way to get people in their ecosystem.
And for those who are administrators of a Microsoft 365/Office 365 enterprise subscription, Cortana is about to begin sending daily emails to your users. I received an email just this morning from cor...@microsoft.com. "We're giving you a sneak peak [sic] of the Briefing email," it announced.
Yes, Cortana can help with language translations. You can ask Cortana to translate words or phrases from one language to another. For example, you can say, "Hey Cortana, translate 'hello' to Spanish," and Cortana will provide you with the translation. This feature can be useful for communicating with people who speak different languages or for learning new languages.
