Greenworks Pro BPB80L2510, sold by Grainger, a major supplier of commercial equipment, for $366.50, including one battery and a charger. Extra batteries, $150. https://www.grainger.com/product/GREENWORKS-PRO-Li-Ion-Battery-Type-446N33
EGO LB6003. This is sold by the same vendor for $600.29, including a battery. Extra batteries, interchangeable across their entire line of equipment $149 - $449 (Ace Hardware retail) https://www.grainger.com/product/EGO-Li-Ion-Battery-Type-55ET25
As we have said for a long time, in looking at electric equipment, one has to consider both upfront purchase price and lifetime price. Despite the prices above, switching to electric does require a much larger upfront cost because of the need to carry multiple batteries. This will decrease over time because trucks that include onboard chargers are coming to market. But currently, one needs to carry multiple batteries. What offsets this is the much lower energy and maintenance costs, which from the data we have seen makes lifetime costs lower. Moreover, costs are coming down; for example, the costs of battery storage have been dropping rapidly (about 19%/yr but slowing down) for years. Moreover, the major suppliers of GLBs, like Stihl and Husqvarna, have begun competing in the BLB market, and that competition should both increase quality and decrease costs, particularly in the face of Washington DC's ban beginning next year and California's ban on sales beginning in 2024. Therefore, over the 3.5 year transition, costs should make the calculations even more favorable.
Example of reduced running costs: A local landscaper who uses electric blowers for cleanups was able to charge enough batteries for a week's worth of cleanups for his crew of three workers for the equivalent of just over one half gallon of gas (.6 gallon).
It is well known that electric motors require very minimal maintenance, which is not true of gas/oil motors.
