We were voters 13 and 14 at 10:30am in Precinct 3.

The Brookhaven bus came just after us, so the number bumped up to maybe 25 by 11 am.
Actually many Brookhaven residents had voted early by absentee ballot, so we will have to wait to see the actual turnout numbers, but usually a lot of voters vote before 9 am on the way to work.

Number 149 at 2:55 pm with numbers 150 through 153 right behind me. Probably some of those who ordinarily vote in the morning postponed voting to later in the day because of the snow.

Just guessing but since each precinct has about 2200 voters the turnout is looking like 15% or a bit less if there is no last minute rush.

This is an election where 3 write-in votes can change or gain a seat in Town Meeting.

I worry that the decision to not postpone the election due to the snow may have disenfranchised some of our elderly voters and voters with disabilities.

May be a we should revisit changing the date of town election to November.

We can study the pluses and minuses of this change.
Not only a significant snow storm impacts every one in a negative way, we force the election workers and public works workers to work in dangerous conditions.
Most likely many skip voting when they have to deal with difficult conditions.

Actually, Precinct 1's turnout was a little higher than some I've seen - possibly because a lot of people had delayed start to their work days.

Remind me why we we don't have Town elections on the weekend again?

My colleagues
It certainly makes it difficult with snow cold and physical strain
I agree with Victoria and many including me to see if some thing can be done
Change for different month or what ever
There certainly will be increasing citizen participation ?
Lexington is loaded with very intellectuals, professionals and passionate volunteers so if change in dates makes better than worth exploring
More than likely this may have been discussed in past but State regs or town regs may be preventing it
I support the idea as a senior citizen
and otherwise
Thanks
