Does a legally residing Lexington adult resident need to be a US Citizen in order to run for Town Office?

Must be a registered voter, therefore must be a US Citizen. Although, I didn't find it stated explicitly on the Town website that a candidate had to be a US Citizen.

It is a simple question and the simple answer is: yes.

 

To run for office, you must be a registered voter. To be a registered voter you must be a US citizen.

That’s right, Sanjay. Anyone who wants to run for a position in Town government in Lexington must be a US Citizen.
