Hello Town Meeting Members,

Lexington’s Planning Office invites all residents and community members to participate in a creative housing workshop.  This will be a collaborative planning exercise where community members are invited to consider locations for higher-density housing.

A new state law demands that MBTA-served communities adopt zoning that allows multi-family housing (a building for 3+ dwellings).

Please join us for an interactive mapping workshop, open conversation, and resident planning effort to help determine possible locations for multi-family housing zoning districts.  Participants will receive an introduction of the law and will be asked to identify possible zoning districts on maps.

Tuesday, October 25, 2022
6:30 – 8:30 pm
Community Center Dining Room
39 Marrett Road, Lexington

The resident-created maps will be used to help the Planning Board formulate a proposed zoning amendment to bring to a future Town Meeting vote.

For more information please visit our MBTA Zoning webpage. You can also contact Planning staff via email or call 781-698-4564.

What is the status of 475 Bedford St vis-a-vis the wetlands? Can anything be developed anywhere on the 9 acres?

Hello all: We're hoping some of you will find time to participate in this workshop, coming up on the evening of October 25th. This is the Town's initial effort to engage the broader community in thinking about how best to implement the MBTA Communities (MBTA-C) requirement to zone for denser housing. We know we have to address this requirement, but it's up to us all to shape it in a way that is a good fit for Lexington. Because any plan will require Town Meeting approval, our participation can also help us build understanding within our ranks

We commend the Planning Department on taking this first, creative step!
