May 17 is the Deadline to Register to Vote in the June 6 Special Election
On June 6, Lexington voters will be asked to weigh-in on a single ballot question with regards to funding for the design and construction of a new Police Station. Polling hours for this special election will be 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM in all precincts.
The deadline to register to vote is May 17. The Town Clerk's Office will be open from 8:30 AM to 8:00 PM to facilitate this registration.

About the Project
The Town is seeking to replace the current Police Station with a building that meets the community's current-day public safety needs. The current building was designed to support a community that was about 70% of the size of the current population, and generated half as many calls in a year as it does now.

Planning Board to Review Draft Comprehensive Plan; Community is Encouraged to Comment
The Planning Board will begin a detailed review of the further updated draft of the Town's Comprehensive Plan over the summer.
The Board's schedule is broken into sections related to the Plan's goals. The first of these meetings will be:

Topic: Comprehensive Plan Update overview and review of next steps.
Future meeting times, locations, Zoom information, and agendas will be posted on the Public Meeting Calendar.
Public comments will be taken at each Planning Board meeting. Written comments may be submitted to Planning Director Abby McCabe.
What is a Comprehensive Plan?
A Comprehensive Plan is:
- a basis for decision making for future development
- a process leading to a plan of action based on a town’s shared values and goals
- a set of priorities for addressing the full range of issues facing a town

FREE 'Skills for Life' Training for Youth in Grades K-8
Join us for a FREE series of shows that promote Skills for Life! Brett Outchcunis is a professional entertainer, motivator, dancer and DJ rolled into one. Part of the Mental Health Awareness Month, these shows are for youth in grades grades K - 8, along with a parent or caregiver(s).
All shows take place at 7 PM at the Scottish Rite Masonic Museum and Library at 33 Marrett Road. No registration necessary.
May 17 - Positive Spin: A show that teaches us how to find the positive in ANY situation and what to do when we are disappointed.
May 24 - How to Make a Mistake: Learn how to become expert mistake-makers who know how to admit mistakes, clean them up and LEARN from them!
May 31 - The Collection: This show focuses on the importance of INCLUSION. Understand why it's so important to include others in our lives.

Upcoming Haiku Writing Workshops

Haiku writing workshops will be held at Cary Library May 14 and May 23, Historical Society May 15, and Monroe Center for the Arts May 22.

Mindful Walk and Sit, Hayden Woods
Saturday May 14: 9-10:30 AM
This walk combines a mindful meander with a meditative sit-spot in Hayden Woods. A series of sensory activities along the way will cultivate a level of enhanced awareness and bring a sense of calm. The loop will end with a 10-to-15-minute silent seated meditation in the Valleyfield Play area. More than light rain will cancel.

ACROSS Lexington Route N Walk
Sunday May 15: 2-4 PM
Explore Route N, the newest addition to the ACROSS Lexington Trail System. This three plus mile route connects Chiesa Farm with Willards Woods and Turning Mill Pond. The walk will include easy unpaved trails as well as paved streets and sidewalks. Some trails may be wet, so wear appropriate shoes. Heavy rain cancels. Wild Edibles of Lexington’s Waysides
Monday May 16: 6-8 pm
Lexington is home to over 70 species of edible wild plants, both native and non-native, including plants considered to be weedy or invasive. Join Russ Cohen, expert forager, on a two-hour ramble in and around Lincoln Park to learn about at least eighteen edible species. Russ will present information on identification tips, edible portion(s), season(s) of availability and preparation methods, as well as general guidelines for safe and environmentally-responsible foraging. Steady rain cancels. Meet at the Fitness Trail entrance at the crosswalk on Worthen Road across from the Lexington High playing fields.

Hazardous Pine Trees at the Center Recreation Complex
The pine trees at the Center Recreation Complex adjacent to the tennis/pickleball courts and swimming pool have been deemed as hazardous.
The Town is working with neighbors to hear their concerns, gather feedback, and develop a schedule for removal and a replanting plan.

Trees in Lexington
From July 1, 2020 through June 30, 2021, throughout Lexington, the Department of Public Works removed 58 dead, diseased, damaged or otherwise hazardous trees. During that same time period, the Department assisted with the planting of 173 new trees on public land. Additionally, the Department treated 18 trees for pests and disease control, and pruned 123 trees to remove hazards and improve health, structure, shape, and aesthetics.

COVID-19 Data
May 9, 2022: COVID cases are rising in Middlesex County. The Lexington Board of Health continues to recommend wearing masks in populated indoor spaces, consistent with CDC recommendations.
The Lexington Office of Public Health will update weekly COVID-19 case numbers each Friday. The data represented on the dashboard DOES NOT include at-home test results. The data only represents results of PCR and antigen tests verified through the Massachusetts Department of Public Health.
