Well it's been about a week now and I am thrilled with this machine!
My 9 year old used it for about an hour, couldn't run his web-based
RPG's, stopped using it, and I have not been able to put it down. I
don't know if everyone has come across this yet, but the following
command will turn on your Internet accessible XO neighborhood and your
screen will be filled with XO users all over the world! It's a great
way to connect with others and share information.

1. Go to the terminal window.
2. sugar-control-panel -g jabber will display your current setting.
3. sugar-control-panel -s jabber xochat.org will change to the
public server.
4. Reboot Sugar with CTRL-ALT-ERASE

Also, the vncviewer comes pre-installed which will let you remotely
control your other machines (linux, windows, mac). Type "vncviewer"
in a terminal window.

I am still working on getting a VPN client running. Once I do I will
pass that on!

Dave,

These are two great tips.  At the end, do you mean VNC Server rather than VNC Client?  I would love to be able to access the XO from my PC or Mac.

Thanks,

One Question about the jabber server stuff...
I did this with my daughter. Her on the XO, me with an XO running in
VMWare. We can both see lots of XO's out there. She can see me, but, I
can't see her. We can both see some of the same XO's. I'm speculating
that there is a limit to the number of XO's that will appear on your
screen and that she has somehow fallen outside my limit. Typing her
name in the top only searches those XO's that are displayed.

Anyone have any clue? I mean, we are sitting 5 feet from each other and
really need to run chat to communicate. :)

Wilson,

I'm not sure, and I did not find an answer to your question, but here is a thread related to jabber.
