I was curious to see how everyone is doing with their XO laptops.
Unfortunately mine has a fairly common keyboard issue. Has anyone
else seen this issue?

I also had to wipe mine clean and do a clean install of the OS about a
month ago.

I have been streaming audio (even with the sticky keys)!

Thanks!

Yes. My ctrl key is mostly stuck.

Mine had a checksum error a few months ago and failed to
boot. I don't know if that was because of all the monkeying
around I was doing, trying to get it to be a day-to-day
computer for me. At that time I had already pretty much
given up on using it as a working machine so I haven't even
gotten around to reinstalling the OS.

Sigh.

I use mine all the time, although I wasn't thrilled with 703 so I wiped the system and reinstalled 656.

Tweaks I have done to make my machine a working machine for adults:

  • remove Tam-Tam
  • edit keybindings file to enable full Abiword interface
  • add fluendo codec so I can play MP3s using the built in Totem media player (still haven't gotten it to play MP4 video, though)
  • install Seamonkey (a lean Firefox/Thunderbird suite)

(btw, OLPC Boston (aka Mass XO) holds a meet-up once a month in Cambridge for anyone who is interested.)
