to Lexington Revit Users Group
First of all welcome to the LRUG! I've been a Revit user for just
about 4 years now. I have held positions as CAD Managers and BIM
Managers alongside design positions for over 10 years but I do not
come from a computer based architectural education. I am a graduate
of Autodesk University 2007, a member of the AIA, the Autodesk Users
Group International (AUGI), the Construction Specifiers Institute
(CSI) BIM Practice Group, the buildingSMART Alliance at the National
Institute of Building Sciences and the Collaborative BIM Advocates. I
am also a sort of mercenary BIM Specialist on the side. With so many
local firms investigating or adopting or contemplating Revit with an
interest in Building Information Modeling, I thought it would be a
good idea to try to organize local users and provide some support for
the community.

I was wondering what everyone thought about occasional face to face
meetings? What issues would warrant a meeting to discuss? And to get
a general idea of what kinds of issues users were wanting to address.
Advanced Solutions has expressed interest in participating when they
can to help organize but they want the users to take the lead. The
people I have spoken with who helped organize some of the more
successful Revit User Groups have all said the same thing: if the
community is involved then things will happen.

So, please participate. Feel free to ask questions, share successes
and vent. I look forward to collaborating with all of you.

Kell D. Pollard, Assoc. AIA
BIM Specialist
