Dear Colleague,

The Organizing Committee of the EURALEX XIX International Congress has decided to organize the Congress which was to be held in Alexandroupolis, Greece as a Virtual Congress on 7-11 September 2021*.

This inevitable decision has been made in the interest of the health and safety of all attendees, given the continuing spread of COVID-19, the restrictions on travel and large meetings, but also in order to avoid a new postponement.

We are committed to using an event management platform that will allow our community to have a virtual, educational Congress where networking and interaction will be the key factors. A Congress where participants, presenters and sponsors can meet in person through videocalls, and exchange experiences and ideas as they would have done in an actual congress hall.

In addition, we have adapted the registration fees, making the congress affordable to more delegates.

Registration Fees:

200 euros for presenters who are not members of Euralex

170 euros for presenters who are Euralex members

140 euros for non-presenters (members and non-members)

80 euros for students (with or without a paper)

The registration fee for presenters includes the publication of their talk in the Euralex Proceedings and/or the Euralex Abstracts Booklet, as well as the services of submission, reviewing, notification, etc.

Participants without a paper/poster/software demonstration may pay the registration fees by August 31st.

All registration fees (presenters and non-presenters), except for the student fee, include a one-year membership of Euralex and a 20% discount on all Oxford University Press (OUP) linguistics titles. All Euralex members have voting rights and are entitled to take part in this year’s General Meeting.

During the Congress, participants will have the chance to attend both a rich scientific program and cultural events including a virtual guided tour in the region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, Greece, a live music concert and free tutorials on Greek Dancing and Greek Food.

In honour of Tanneke Schoonheim (1965-2020), whose idea and hope this was, various congress fee discount opportunities will be offered to participants via the ‘Tanneke Schoonheim Grants’. More information on these and other discount opportunities will be published on our web page (https://euralex2020.gr/) in due time.

Looking ahead to a post-COVID-19 world, participants of Euralex 2020/21 will be entitled to book discounted holiday packages for travelling in the region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, Greece.

Do not hesitate to contact the Organizing Committee (at eural...@artion.com.gr) for any questions you might have.
