Hello there friends, foes, and strangers alike! I hope you're well, despite the horrors. I've been busy making music, and yet not busy writing songs. And yet I have an album to show for it! Let me explain.
As you may or may not know, for the past couple decades, in addition to my various other endeavors, I've had a solo improvisational project called Passenger Pigeon. After 20 years, the first proper Passenger Pigeon album, Another New Low, comes out this spring on Right Brain Records, home to Amy Denio, Bill Horist, Wayne Horvitz, and many more bright lights of unusual music. It was improvised and recorded by me at home and mastered by Andrew Weathers. (And the cover photo is by Bill Horist.)
The release date is 4/16. The Bandcamp pre-order (digital and CD) and preview track "I Don't Think that Place Exists" are available here: https://passenger-pigeon.bandcamp.com/album/another-new-low
Events!
Another New Low listening party! On Wednesday, April 8, at 6:30pm PDT, you'll have your first chance to listen to the album in full (unless you order the CD, in which case you might well have it in hand before then).
If you've never attended one, Bandcamp listening parties are super fun.
Come hang out, listen along, chat with me and fellow music weirdos, ask what the heck that sound is, et cetera!
And then the big one:
We'll be celebrating the release on Friday, April 24th at Woodland Theater with local geniuses Noel Brass Jr. (of Afrocop) and KO Solo (aka Kate Olson). Show starts at 8pm and it's all ages, so you have no excuse. (Or, okay, fewer excuses.)
I'm
excited (and just a bit nervous) to share this music with you and the
world. I hope you're able to spend some time with it. It's improvised
and often experimental, but I think it's still somewhat approachable,
even melodic at times? I'd love to know what you think. And of course,
we have . . .
I truly hope this finds you well, and to see you out in the world soon, at one of the above or at some other happening entirely.
Fuck ICE,
Levi
